Celebrate the Craft of Television and the Importance of Mentorship at IndieWire and Universal Studio Group’s Consider This Event

1 week ago 22

It’s one of the best times of year for TV lovers, as we all look back on the past season of episodic excellence and consider the shows that deserve awards love. And next week, IndieWire and Universal Studio Group are partnering to celebrate four of our favorite shows: “Hacks,” “All Her Fault,” “The ‘Burbs,'” and “The Paper.” The event will honor both the craft of producing television and the importance of mentorship in the entertainment industry, with insights from mentors from the Motion Picture and Television Fund’s Passing the Torch initiative.

The conversation, moderated by IndieWire’s Jim Hemphill, will feature “All Her Fault” composer Jeff Beal, “The ‘Burbs” makeup department head Golden Shyne, and “Hacks” and “The Paper” costume designer Kathleen Felix-Hager. Passing the Torch mentors include hair and makeup artist Darrell Redleaf Fielder, property master Hope Parrish, cinematographer Richard Walden, and production coordinator Lois Walker.

Our Consider This event takes place on Thursday, May 7 on the Universal lot, with a reception to follow at the Peacock Grill. Attendees will also receive a special giveaway. TV Academy members, guild members, and select industry persons are invited to RSVP for the event here. Capacity is limited, and attendance is not guaranteed.

This event is in partnership with USG University (a Universal Studio Group program), MPTF Passing the Torch and IndieWire’s Future of Filmmaking.
