Allegra Edwards has joined the cast of the CBS comedy pilot “Eternally Yours” in a lead role, Variety has learned.
Edwards will appear in the pilot alongside previously announced cast members Ed Weeks and Jaren Lewison. The single-camera show was picked up to pilot at the broadcaster in July, while CBS had originally opened a development room for the show in mid 2024. It hails from Joe Port and Joe Wiseman, who developed the hit CBS comedy series “Ghosts.”
The official logline for “Eternally Yours” describes the pilot as, “An eternal love story about two vampires (Edwards, Weeks) who have been married for five hundred years, and their struggles to accept the human (Lewison) who is dating their daughter.”
Edwards character, Liz, is further described as “a wife, mother, history professor… and vampire since 1526 AD. Liz and Charles, whose love was the stuff of romance novels, are now stuck in the fifth century of a mundane, interminable marriage. Unlike her stuck-in-his-ways husband, Liz wants to grow and change with the times, and she’ll do whatever it takes to drag Charlies into the 21st century.”
The role reunites Edwards with Port and Wiseman, as she previously appeared in multiple episodes of “Ghosts” as Donna, a ghost at a Carribbean resort who serves as a love interest to Pete (Richie Moriarty). She is known for her roles in the shows “Upload” and “Briarpatch,” as well as for appearances in shows like the “King of the Hill” revival, “Orange Is the New Black,” “New Girl,” and “Modern Family.”
She is repped by Innovative Artists Entertainment and OPE Partners.
Port and Wiseman are writers and executive producers on “Eternally Yours.” Eric Tannenbaum, Kim Tannenbaum, and Jason Wang also executive produce. CBS Studios will produce.
