CBS News And Stations Unveils Assignments For Community Journalism “News Hubs”

CBS News and Stations announced the lineup of journalists who will be based in community “news hubs” the south and the middle of the country.

Adrianne Roark, president of editorial and newsgathering, wrote in a memo to staff that the journalists “will be based in cities across the South and the middle of the country with growing populations.”

“They join our local-to-global team already delivering thoughtful, engaging, and timely reporting across our platforms,” she wrote. “These news hubs will allow us to respond to breaking news quicker, unearth stories of national importance from their own communities and deliver deeper reporting on the 2024 Election from every corner of the country.”

She also wrote that they “represent a wave of journalists who shoot, edit, report, and present their stories in creative ways across platforms.” Some are new hires and others are moving from other cities.

They are:

Jason Allen, previously a reporter with CBS News Texas, will be a correspondent based in Dallas/Fort Worth.

Andres Gutierrez, most recently a reporter with CBS News Detroit, will be a reporter based in Las Vegas.

Skyler Henry, most recently a correspondent for CBS Newspath in Washington, will be a correspondent based in Atlanta.

Ian Lee, who was a correspondent based in London and has reported across the Middle East, Europe and East Asia, will be a correspondent based in Kansas City.

Nicole Valdes, most recently a weather correspondent with Fox Weather, will be a correspondent based in Nashville.

Kati Weis, an investigative reporter for CBS News Colorado in Denver, will be a reporter based in New Orleans.
