Persona is a Swedish avant-garde psychological drama that follows a young nurse, Alma, who is put in charge of Elisabeth Vogler: an actress who is seemingly healthy in all respects, but will not talk.

As the two start to spend time together, Alma speaks to Elisabeth constantly but never receives an answer from her.

Alma eventually confesses her secrets to a seemingly sympathetic Elisabeth but finds that her own personality is slowly being absorbed by the mute Elisabeth.

Liv who was attending the screening alongside Cate starred as Elisabeth in the original film alongside Bibi Andersson as Alma.

Cate's outing comes after she commanded attention earlier this month as she led the star-studded arrivals at the premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim in London.

The acting icon sent temperatures soaring despite the chilly winter weather, as she stepped out in a daring black bodysuit with a neckline that plunged down to her belly button.

She teamed the racy top with an oversized tweed blazer and matching straight-leg trousers, while boosting her height with a pair of black stilettos.
