Catch up on Severance and Shrinking with Apple TV+ currently discounted to $3 per month

In a nutshell: Apple TV+ is offering a rare discount on its subscription-based streaming service. Now through April 24, new and eligible returning customers can get three months of Apple TV+ for $2.99 per month. That's a notable 70% discount off the regular $9.99 rate and a great opportunity to explore what Apple's streaming platform has to offer.

Arguably the most talked-about show on Apple TV+ right now is Severance. The sci-fi psychological thriller premiered in early 2022 and follows the lives of employees at a biomedical company that have undergone a procedure called "severance." The procedure ensures employees have no memories of their job when not at work, and no recollection of the outside world while on the clock.

Apple TV+ is also home to other popular exclusives including Ted Lasso, For All Mankind, and The Morning Show. Lighthearted comedy Shrinking starring Jason Segel, Harrison Ford, and Jessica Williams is also highly recommended. The latest series from Apple, The Studio, arrived late last month.

Like other U.S. tech giants, Apple has been feeling the effects of Trump tariffs as of late. Share values are down more than 12 percent over the trailing five days as of writing. Pushing a promo for a non-physical product that isn't subject to high import taxes seems like a wise move for the moment, and one that could lead to net subscribers down the line.

It's worth noting that after the three-month promotional period expires, subscribers will automatically be switched over to the standard $9.99 per month rate unless the account is canceled ahead of time.

Streaming services are a dime a dozen these days, and it can be easy to fall into the trap of signing up for more subscriptions than you can reasonably make use of. I try and make a habit of reevaluating all of my streaming memberships on a quarterly basis and cancel any that I'm not actively using. Promotional offers also play into the equation, allowing me to pause one subscription and take up another at a significant savings.
