Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little suffered through a very awkward radio segment on Monday.

The pair, who recently announced their national Hit Network drive show would finish at the end of the year, were left red-faced after Carrie made a slip-up on air.

The blunder came as Tommy was discussing what he ate over the weekend, which saw Carrie suffer a cheeky slip of the tongue.

'I had a chilli con carne that I reheated in the microwave. It was too hot to eat!' Tommy began.

'Chilli con can't!' Carrie quipped back - with her remark misheard as a swear word and bleeped out.

'Do you realise what you just said?' a shocked Tommy asked.

Carrie explained that she had merely been engaging in playful banter and had attempted to say 'can't'.

The footage was later shared on social media and Carrie took to the comments section to explain the faux pas.

'So just for clarification….he was saying the chilli con carne was too hot to eat so I was trying to say chilli con 'carn't', more like it. Context is important,' she joked.

It comes after explosive claims emerged about a bitter falling-out between the pair, as their decade-long radio partnership comes to an end.

Industry insiders have claimed the relationship between the former co-hosts has deteriorated dramatically behind the scenes.

One source described the situation as a 'nasty rift', alleging the two are barely able to be in the same room together when they are not broadcasting.

'Carrie and Tommy are not speaking,' they claimed to the Daily Mail.

'Things are so toxic, you barely get them in a room together if the mics aren't on.'

The allegations mark a dramatic contrast to the seemingly close friendship that made them one of Australian radio's most popular duos – and fuelled years of speculation that their relationship extended beyond the studio.

Romance rumours first gained traction in early 2023, after Carrie announced her separation from her partner of 11 years, Chris Walker.

Tommy was also single at the time, having split from his former girlfriend Natalie Kyriacou in 2021.

The timing prompted fans to question whether the pair's famously flirtatious on-air chemistry was translating into something more.

Despite the speculation, neither has publicly confirmed a romantic relationship.

Now, as their professional partnership comes to an end, sources have dismissed the notion that the two are an item, with one well-placed industry insider describing the gossip as 'laughable'.

'The rumours couldn't be further from the truth,' they said, noting that while it's possible they may have been romantically involved in the past, that is absolutely no longer the case.

The reported rift comes amid claims Carrie was negotiating a move to ARN independently, rather than as part of a package deal with Tommy.

It has since been confirmed that she will be heading over to KIIS FM.

She will replace Will McMahon and Woody Whitelaw, who front the Will & Woody drive-time show.
