It comes after Carey and husband Marcus Mumford raised £5.78million for the Children In Conflict charity at their annual benefit last week.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2012, hosted their star-studded event at Los Angeles' El Rey Theatre and revealed the staggering amount raised at the end of the night.

Actress Carey drew gasps from the audience as she announced the amount raised, she said: 'This is more money than we have ever raised before.'

Singer Marcus, 39, added: 'This money will help us bring support to over one million children in war zones. We are so grateful to the L.A. community.'

Children In Conflict is a non-profit organisation that aims to protect, educate and provide vital mental health support to children living in war zones and high-conflict areas globally.

Jack Whitehall was MC for the special evening, which featured actresses Emma Watson, Daisy Edgar-Jones, Courteney Cox and Kristen Bell on the guest list.

Kristen's husband, actor and comedian Dax Shepard was also present, as were David Chang, Lee Sung Jin, Sarah Polley, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Simon Kinberg, Cleo Wade, Kristie Macosko Krieger and Kathleen Kennedy.

Marcus took to the stage to perform with his band, Mumford & Sons, and there were also performances from Brandi Carlile, Sierra Ferrell and Jensen McRae.

Hollywood stars Octavia Spencer and Viola Davis also performed readings on the night.

Carey and Marcus have previously held charity events in London and New York, but Sunday's spectacle was their first ever Children in Conflict event in LA.

Children in Conflict CEO Rob Williams said: 'Our work and the children we work with seem to have captured the hearts of a new community of support in Los Angeles.

'We are so delighted to have the chance to reach more children than ever before.

'We will be running more events in Los Angeles next year and would love more people to get involved.'

It comes after Carey was supported by Marcus earlier this summer as she was awarded with a CBE by King Charles at Windsor Castle.

The Bafta-winning actress said she felt 'extraordinary' after being made a Commander Of The British Empire for services to drama.

Carey proudly posed with her honour while dressed in a chic cream boucle jacket and oversized black trousers.

After accepting the CBE, the Promising Young Woman star was joined by her husband Marcus, who she married in 2012.

Carey and Marcus now have three children: Evelyn, eight, Wilfred, five, and a third child born in September 2023, whose name has not been revealed.
