Captain Jason Chambers Shockingly Praises This Below Deck Med Star Despite Poor Performance Allegations

Below Deck Down Under’s Captain Jason Chambers is shockingly praising this Below Deck Mediterranean crew member, even after some major accusations of faking their poor performance. Throughout Below Deck Down Under’s history, Captain Jason has been known for the words of affirmation he provides. While he’s one of the more casual Captains on the current Below Deck roster, Captain Jason isn’t afraid to let his crew know they’ve made a mistake on board. Throughout Below Deck Mediterranean season 9, several crew members have been performing poorly, to the point that some viewers are curious about the legitimacy of their performance.

In an interview with US Weekly, Captain Jason shared he’s been watching more Below Deck Mediterranean than ever, and has some feedback for the Mustique’s crew now that their charter season is almost over. Sharing that Chef Johnathan Shillingford had some difficulties early in the season, Captain Jason was happy to see him overcoming the issues with his poor performance. “He can easily adjust to what’s going on,” Captain Jason noted. “He’s had some low periods but has learned to rise up to the event.” While Captain Jason may have handled things differently, he was happy to see Jono succeed.

Sharing that he noticed Chef Jono’s issues early on in the charter season were causing the rest of the crew stress, he shared that it was smart of the crew to make adjustments. “I saw in later episodes that he was prepping some meals prior to going to bed so he made the adjustments,” Captain Jason explained. He revealed that while his process may be somewhat different on Below Deck Down Under, he appreciated that Captain Sandy Yawn was able to work with Chef Jono to make accommodations for everyone.

He’s Happy To See The Chef’s Improvements

Although Captain Jason has dealt with some incredibly difficult issues on his own Below Deck charter seasons, seeing other Captains working through issues is something the Below Deck Down Under leader enjoys. While the issues with Chef Jono were wide-ranging throughout the season, Captain Sandy was able to work with the Chef and the rest of the crew to make accommodations for everyone to improve their working environment. While Chef Jono’s performance early in the charter season was lacking on multiple fronts, with his attitude toward the interior team and his service being poor, things quickly improved with his attitude.

Captain Jason has been known to be a proponent of the crew helping each other improve, and though he steps in when necessary, the Captain also seems to enjoy knowing his crew can be independent.
