Can You Change Servers In Cookie Run: Kingdom?

1 month ago 22

Cookie Run: Kingdom is the sixth title in Devsisters' popular mobile town-building gacha franchise, which has amassed quite a following over time. As such, the game can't contain all its players on one single server, making it necessary to split the playerbase into several different servers.

There are currently three servers on Cookie Run: Kingdom, and each has its pros and cons. New players are asked to choose between the three servers or they're automatically placed in the newest one. Though it seems like a simple choice, which server they pick may make a bigger difference on the rest of their game than they think.

Players Are Stuck With Their Starting Server

The player's starting server is permanent, and there is no way to change servers in Cookie Run: Kingdom. Luckily, although each server has its pros and cons, which server players play on has no effect on the gameplay or story at all. The biggest potential issue of ending up in the wrong server is struggling with certain social elements or not being able to interact with friends.

Most of the time, players can choose which server they join on, but sometimes the game will auto-select the server for them. This change wasn't mentioned in any update patch notes, but is likely a way to equalize the number of players across the three servers. When this happens, creating a new account can trigger the server selection screen to appear.

Players who already have friends playing Cookie Run: Kingdom should choose the server that their friends are on or they won't be able to play the game together. If they're not given the option to choose a server, they won't be able to play with friends who are on other servers.

It Depends On What You Want From The Game

There are three servers in Cookie Run: Kingdom, each named after the cookie it's themed around. There are benefits and cons for each server, and it's a good idea to keep these in mind when selecting which server to play on. Which server players choose depends on what they're looking for from the social experience of the game.

All Cookie Run: Kingdom Codes (January 2025)

In Cookie Run: Kingdom, players will want to use the latest codes to build their kingdom and recruit more cookies to jumpstart their path to victory.

The Pure Vanilla server is the oldest in the game, having been released in January 2021 along with the game's launch. Since it's the oldest, this server has the oldest and most advanced players. It's a good choice for anyone who wants to get help from more experienced players, but not a great choice for complete beginners, since all the game veterans will make any ranked competitions much more difficult.

The Hollyberry server was added in September 2021, along with the ability to choose servers on account creation. This server is the second oldest and therefore offers a middle ground between the most crowded and most beginner-friendly options. Hollyberry is a good server for both beginners and veterans of the game, offering a wide variety of account ages.

The youngest and most recently added server is the Dark Cacao server, which was created in February 2022. This server has the most beginners, and is often the one listed as "recommended" for new players. This is also the server that players are most likely to end up in if the game decides to skip the selection screen and auto-choose the server. The server has fewer experienced players, making it difficult to find assistance but easier to find guilds and friends of the same level.

A Server Switch Mechanic Would Be A Welcome Update

When Cookie Run: Kingdom was first released, it only had one server, with the other two joining Pure Vanilla a bit later. As more new players join the game, more servers might be added. Since the game sometimes auto-selects servers, and there might one day be more servers to choose from, it's very possible that it will one day be possible to switch servers.

If the option to switch is ever added, it might be handled in a similar way to other games that run on multiple servers. This would mean giving players the ability to migrate their account from one server to another, provided there's availability in the selected server. To prevent overloading any single server, Devsisters may place a price or limit on this process, deterring players from switching back and forth between servers at their whims.

There might one day be a way to switch servers in the mobile gacha game. For now, though, there are only three servers in Cookie Run: Kingdom, and the only real difference between them is whether players get to be on the same server as their friends.
