A new Augment system comes to the Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, with Ammo Mods being one of the three types you can unlock. Along with Field Upgrades and Perks, Ammo Mods provide passive buffs that can help you survive undead waves as they get tougher. Ammo Mods change what bullets your weapon fires, adding new effects or elemental damage against your enemies.
Player progression in CoD: Black Ops 6 gives you more chances to get Aguments in Zombies, including different types of Ammo Mods. In total, there are five different Ammo Mod types you can get, which each have unique effects applied to whatever weapon you're wielding. Ammo Mods are not limited to a specific weapon type, so don't worry about any loadout limiting which ones you can use.
How To Unlock Ammo Mods
Reach Different Levels Of Progression
You can unlock every different kind of Ammo Mod by reaching different Account Levels within the Zombies mode of CoD: Black Ops 6. Simply playing through matches and attempting to overcome zombie Rounds will help you get all the Augments you want. However, you will still have to find each Ammo Mod on a Zombies map before you can start using them.

Best Perks To Get In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, Ranked
When buying different Perks in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, some are more essential to get than others when fighting against undead hordes.
Ammo Mods are dropped as rare loot from stronger zombie types, especially much stronger variants like the Abomination. You can also spend Salvage to get an Ammo Mod from Arsenal Machines, which exchanges Essence for different gear. These devices have set spawn locations on the Terminus and Liberty Falls maps in CoD: Black Ops 6 Zombies, so take the time to figure out where these are.
If you want to get any of the Easter Egg quests in Zombies , you need to at least have a few Ammo Mods unlocked to make completing these "story" tasks easier.
Salvage is another currency gained when you defeat zombie enemies, dropping randomly as you shoot various undead. More Salvage drops when you deal with critical hits, so shoot zombie heads and unleash explosives to farm as much as you can. If you're playing with a squad, keep in mind that Salvage drops are based on individual operators, meaning everyone gets their share.
Similar to how you gain Ammo Mods in the first place, you can earn Minor and Major Augments to upgrade these Augments. There are three Minor and three Major Augments you can unlock to improve Ammo Mods. These are gained when your Account Level increases, but you should know each Ammo Mod's basic effect first before you start conducting research for upgrades.
How To Use All Ammo Mods
Understand The Effect Of Each Augment
Every single Ammo Mod adds an elemental type of damage to the bullets you fire, changing how you deal damage to zombies. Most of these Augments have secondary effects that apply to specific zombie types, often randomly with whatever weapon in CoD: Black Ops 6 you use. Here are all the effects of every Ammo Mod and what Account Level you need to reach to unlock them:
Dead Wire | Bullets deal electric damage. Each bullet has a chance to stun a Normal or Special zombie, causing them to generate an electric damage field. | |
Napalm Burst | 6 | Bullets deal fire damage. Each bullet has a chance to apply a burn effect on Normal or Special zombies, dealing damage over time. |
Cryo Freeze | 14 | Bullets deal frost damage. Each bullet has a chance to slow a Normal or Special zombie and increase the damage they receive. |
Brain Rot | 27 | Bullets deal toxic damage. Each bullet has a chance to temporarily turn a Normal or Special zombie into an ally. Allied zombies attack whatever enemy is closest to them. |
Shadow Rift | 44 | Bullets deal shadow damage. Each bullet has a chance to spawn a black hole on a Normal or Special zombie, warping away those nearby and dropping some from the air at lethal speed. |

Call Of Duty Black Ops 6 Zombie Prep: Everything You Need To Get Ready
Zombies are back and coming to Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6. Thankfully, there are new weapons and features to help players get prepped for them.
Minor or Major Augments can make these effects even better, allowing you to craft builds centered on whatever Ammo Mod type you choose to wield. For example, a Shotgun build in CoD: Black Ops 6 might work great with Napalm Burst as a way to increase the overall damage you deal to enemies.
You can conduct research in between matches of Zombies mode to unlock the upgrades you want, but keep in mind that you still have to find Ammo Mods during a Round. To unlock every Ammo Mod and stack them onto each other, you still need to spend Salvage or defeat enemies in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies.
