Justin Trudeau is settling into post-prime minister life with popstar girlfriend Katy Perry – and a $3.1 million mansion to match, the Daily Mail can reveal.

The 54-year-old former Canadian PM has snapped up a nearly 100-year-old 4,965 sq ft stone mansion in Montreal's upscale Outremont neighborhood that he proudly showed off to the singer this week.

The couple were spotted having lunch at Leméac, a French bistro less than a mile from his sprawling new property.

The sighting drew attention from excited onlookers who tried to snap a photo of the pair, before being brushed off by Trudeau who insisted the two were 'having a private moment,' according to a fan.

Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, the eyewitness, Lea Streliski said she asked to take a picture with Perry because her 11-year-old daughter is a big fan. Despite Trudeau's rejection, the singer agreed to sign an autograph for her daughter.

Trudeau purchased the new house in mid-January for $4.26 million CAD and, according to public records, finalized the deal on Monday.

Luxury real estate broker Joseph Montanaro listed the property last year at $4.5 million ($3.3 million USD).

Sitting on a 13,672-square-foot lot in the shadow of Mount Royal, the home boasts seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, an office, and its own ballroom for entertaining.

The property, protected by a metal fence and surrounded by mature trees and shrubs, has two street addresses: On the north side there is a driveway and a gated pathway while on the south side there is a two-car garage and stone steps leading up to the home.

On Thursday, there was a large dumpster in the driveway and an employee of general contractor Modulor was seen on site, suggesting that renovations will be done.

Trudeau purchased the home from Nicolas Ruggieri, head of the real estate division of his family's Batipart Invest. Based in Luxembourg, the company owns part of Montreal-based developer Cogir.

Ruggieri paid $5,425,000 in 2023 to purchase the home from Marc DeSerres, president of the arts and craft supplies retail chain DeSerres, and his wife Céline Blanchet.

Documents obtained by Daily Mail show that Trudeau secured a mortgage from the Bank of Montreal for the purchase price. Annual property taxes are estimated at just under $38,000 ($28,000 USD).

Trudeau, who stepped down as prime minister in March 2025 after a decade in office, earned $406,200 ($299,000 USD) in his final year of service.

Beginning next year, he is entitled to an annual pension of $141,000 plus an additional 'retirement allowance' once he turns 67, according to reports

He is currently commanding six-figure fees as a speaker repped by The Harry Walker Agency in New York City.

In January, with Perry looking on, Trudeau spoke about 'soft power' in geopolitics during an appearance at the The World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Last September, he spoke at the 26th World Knowledge Forum in Seoul, South Korea.

Trudeau and Perry were first spotted together last July enjoying a romantic dinner at Montreal's Le Violon and later outside the Ritz-Carlton Hotel on Sherbrooke Street.

The following night, fhe former politician was seen watching Perry perform her Lifetimes Tour concert in Ottawa.

The lovebirds, who were caught canoodling on a yacht off the coast of Santa Barbara last October, made their relationship official two months later with a public appearance in Japan.

Trudeau and Perry have since shared photos from their global adventures on social media.

Settling down in Montreal makes sense for Trudeau, who represented the city's Papineau riding during his time in parliament.

His family has deep roots in the largely-Francophone city, which is Canada's second largest. Montreal's airport is named in honor of his father, former prime minister Pierre Trudeau.

Katy and Justin's relationship debut came at her 41st birthday bash in Paris in October and they have continued to make public appearances together since. They are seen leaving an event at the World Economic Forum in Davos on January 20

The new home is less than a two mile walk through Mount Royal Park to Cormier House, the iconic Art Deco mansion where his younger brother Alexandre, 52, lives with his family.

It was their father's home from his retirement in 1984 to his death in 2000.

Justin and Alexandre jointly own, through a numbered company, a chalet on 123 acres of property in the Laurentian mountains north of Montreal.

After his marrriage to Sophie Grégoire in 2005, the couple bought a $1.2 million ($884,000 USD) home in Outremont that they unloaded in 2010 to move into a smaller, $777,000 ($572,000 USD) semi-detached home in Mont Royal.

They sold the house when Justin became leader of the Liberal party in 2013.

During his decade-long tenure as prime minister, Trudeau and his family lived at Rideau Cottage, a historic home of a little more than 10,000 square feet on the grounds of the Governor General of Canada.

Trudeau was unable to live in the official residence, 24 Sussex, because it was deemed to be in need of extensive repairs and upgrades.

It's where he spent the first eight years of his life as the son of then-prime minister Pierre Trudeau and then again for four years in the early 80s when his father served another term.

Justin and Sophie announced their separation in August 2023 after 10 years of marriage and three children: Xavier, 18, Ella-Grace, 17, and Hadrien, almost 12.

According to his mortgage documents, Justin and Sophie are currently in the process of divorcing.

Since leaving office last March, Trudeau has been leasing a two-story house in Ottawa's upscale Rockcliffe Park neighborhood, about a mile from Rideau Cottage.

The brick-and-stucco home on a 9,728 sq ft lot boasts six bedrooms – including a primary suite with vaulted ceiling and fireplace – and 4.5 bathrooms.

There is also an office with built-in bookshelves, a gym, a spacious granite kitchen and an all-season sunroom overlooking a saltwater pool.

The house, listed at $2.75 million ($2 million USD), was recently sold.

Last March, Daily Mail revealed that Trudeau picked up items for his new home at a Canadian Tire store in Gatineau, across the river from Ottawa.

While prime minister, he told radio personality Terry DiMonte: 'I love to go to Canadian Tire on Saturday mornings.

'I don't go every Saturday morning, but I will go there, ball cap on, and I'll just wander around.'

Good news for Justin: His new home in Montreal is just a 15-minute drive to a Canadian Tire.
