Caleb & Brown expands to UK, targeting high-net-worth clients with white-glove crypto brokerage

Caleb & Brown, the Australian personal crypto brokerage that was snapped up by Swyftx for up to $200 million last year, has officially launched operations in the United Kingdom. The firm is going after high-net-worth individuals and institutional traders with a pitch that sounds almost retro in the age of algorithmic everything: a real human broker assigned to your account, available around the clock.

The UK expansion, which went live on August 3, marks a deliberate bet that the wealthiest segment of crypto investors doesn’t want to use the same platforms as everyone else.

A concierge for your crypto

Caleb & Brown was founded in 2016 in Melbourne’s Cremorne neighborhood, and the firm has built its entire identity around being the anti-exchange. Each client gets paired with a dedicated broker who handles trades, provides market education, and offers what the company describes as discreet assistance.

The model runs on fixed-fee trading, which removes the variable spread structures that can eat into large orders on retail platforms. For clients moving significant capital, like trusts and self-managed funds, predictable costs matter more than a sleek user interface.

The UK entity operates as Caleb & Brown Support Services Ltd, registered with Companies House under company number 13790299. The firm has also set up a localized website and a dedicated UK social media presence.

Swyftx’s $200M bet goes international

The UK launch doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It’s the first major international move since Swyftx, one of Australia’s largest crypto exchanges, acquired Caleb & Brown in July 2025. That deal was valued at up to $200 million, making it the largest digital assets M&A transaction in Australia and New Zealand at the time.

Before the acquisition, Caleb & Brown had already been building out its tech stack through a partnership with Talos, the institutional trading infrastructure provider. The combination of Swyftx’s exchange capabilities and Talos’s execution technology gives the brokerage a more robust back end than most boutique firms typically operate.

The firm currently claims a client base estimated between 21,000 and over 40,000 across more than 100 countries.

Why the UK, and why now

The UK has been one of the more complex regulatory environments for crypto firms. The Financial Conduct Authority has taken a strict approach to marketing rules and consumer protections, which has caused several exchanges to pull back from the market or limit their offerings.

What this means for investors

The expansion fits into a larger trend that’s been accelerating across the crypto industry: the bifurcation of services between retail and institutional or high-net-worth clients. For wealthy investors considering crypto exposure, the emergence of dedicated brokerages like Caleb & Brown represents a meaningful improvement in service quality. Fixed-fee structures, dedicated human support, and portfolio-level advisory aren’t just nice-to-have features for clients managing substantial positions.

The risk, of course, is execution. Expanding a relationship-driven business model across borders is notoriously difficult. The brokers need to understand local market dynamics, regulatory nuances, and client expectations that may differ significantly from the Australian market where the firm built its reputation.
