Buffy the Vampire Slayer's James Marsters, 63, finalizes divorce from Patricia Rahman, 39, after legal battle

James Marsters has officially closed the book on his marriage.

The Buffy the Vampire Slayer star, 63, has finalized his divorce from Patricia Rahman, 39, five years after she pulled the plug on their 10-year union.

Marsters - best known for playing bleach-blond bad boy Spike opposite Sarah Michelle Gellar on the cult WB hit and its spin-off Angel - reached a written settlement with Rahman, according to court documents obtained by TMZ on Thursday.

The filings state the former couple have resolved all outstanding issues, including property division, marital rights and spousal support.

All that remains is a judge's signature to make it official.

Rahman - a fashion student when she first met Marsters - filed for divorce at a Los Angeles courthouse shortly after what would have been their 10th wedding anniversary. 

The filing was listed as a ‘dissolution of marriage without minor children,’ reflecting that the couple did not have children together. 

The pair became engaged after Marsters romantically proposed to Rahman in Trier, Germany, in May 2010, where she was reportedly studying fashion.

The former couple had first crossed paths years earlier at a concert in Amsterdam before eventually tying the knot in Los Angeles in January 2011.

Recalling their meet-cute to People in 2006, Marsters revealed just how close they came to missing their chance.

‘I met her backstage and got her phone number, but then my jeans were cleaned out by the crew and they threw it out,’ he said.

‘I'd given her my number, but she took down one digit wrong. It took her six months to call all of the different combinations.’

Marsters was previously married to Liane Davidson, with whom he shares a 27-year-old son, Sullivan. 

He ended that marriage in 1997 after eight years together.

Best known for bringing cult favorite Spike to life on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Marsters became one of the breakout stars of the late-’90s supernatural drama - despite originally being cast for what was meant to be a brief arc in Season 2.

His platinum-haired vampire proved so wildly popular with viewers that he remained on the series for five seasons before crossing over to its spin-off, Angel, where he reprised the role opposite David Boreanaz from 2003 to 2004.

Though forever linked to the Buffyverse, Marsters steadily expanded his résumé. 

He portrayed the Kryptonian villain Brainiac on Smallville between 2005 and 2010, appeared in several episodes of the British sci-fi series Torchwood, and later guest-starred on network hits including Hawaii Five-0, Supernatural, and Runaways.

On the big screen, he has taken roles in independent films and genre projects, including 2010’s High Plains Invaders and 2013’s Dragon Warriors. 

He has also built a parallel career as a voice actor and audiobook narrator, lending his voice to numerous fantasy and science fiction titles.

In addition to acting, Marsters has maintained his longtime passion for music. 

He has fronted bands including Ghost of the Robot and has toured internationally, often performing at fan conventions across the United States and Europe. 

In recent years, he has remained a fixture on the convention circuit, regularly appearing at Comic-Con events and Buffy reunions.

Meanwhile, the Buffy universe is preparing for a return to the small screen. 

A reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is currently in development, with original star Sarah Michelle Gellar attached as an executive producer.

The project is still in early stages and has not yet announced a premiere date, though industry reports suggest it is being eyed for a late 2026 or 2027 debut if it moves forward to series
