‘Brilliant Minds’ Will Return in May With Guest Stars Mamie Gummer, Anne Archer, Ed Begley Jr. and Ana Ortiz

Ed Begley Jr., Anne Archer, Mamie Gummer and Ana Ortiz will join NBC’s “Brilliant Minds” as the show returns in May for Season 2’s final six episodes. “Brilliant Minds” had been pulled from the schedule in February prior to the Winter Olympics, with no firm date for its return.

NBC hasn’t made a final decision yet on the fate of “Brilliant Minds” beyond Season 2, which returns on Wednesday, May 27 at 8 p.m. ET. The show will remain in that slot for the season’s final six segs.

As part of the news, NBC announced three more guest stars: Begley Jr. will play Duke on Episode 220; here’s the the character description: “A once-commanding patriarch, Duke struggles to hold onto the memories that defined him. But as they slip away, Wolf becomes determined to help him make amends with his estranged son before it’s too late.”

Also in that episode, Archer will play Bonnie, described as “a kindhearted matriarch who must find a way to reconcile the future she dreamed of with the reality she faces.”

Meanwhile, in Episode 217, Gummer will play Regan, “a psychiatric patient whose harrowing episodes estrange her from everyone at Hudson Oaks…except for Wolf. After taking a keen interest in Regan, Wolf discovers there may be more to her case than meets the eye.”

And in Episode 218, Ortiz will play Alyssa Rivera: “Fresh out of prison, Alyssa is determined to earn her way back into her old life, no matter the cost.”

Begley’s recent TV credits include “Better Call Saul,” “Young Sheldon,” “Bless This Mess,” “Arrested Development,” “Portlandia,” “Modern Family” and “Six Feet Under,” while in film he’s been seen on films such as “A Mighty Wind,” “Best in Show” and “For Your Consideration.”

Archer can currently was seen on “The Dropout,” “Paper Empire” and “The L Word.” In film, she was nominated for a BAFTA and Golden Globe for “Fatal Attraction.”

Gummer’s TV credits include “We Were Liars,” “DMZ,” “True Detective,” “The Collection,” “Emily Owens, M.D.,” “The Good Wife,” “Manhattan,” “Off the Map,” “John Adams” and “The Big C.” Ortiz’s credits include “Goosebumps,” “Love, Victor,” “Whiskey Cavalier,” “Dangerous Maids” and “Ugly Betty.”

Zachary Quinto stars in “Brilliant Minds,” which was inspired by author and neurologist Oliver Sacks. He plays Dr. Wolf, a surgeon at Bronx General uncovering medical mysteries of the mind.

Quinto, Tamberla Perry, Ashleigh LaThrop, Alex MacNicoll, Aury Krebs, Spence Moore II, Teddy Sears, Donna Murphy, John Clarence Stewart, Brian Altemus and Al Calderon star in the show.

Michael Grassi is creator, writer, and executive producer. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Lee Toland Krieger, DeMane Davis, Jasmine Russ, Henrik Bastin, Jonathan Cavendish, Andy Serkis and Shefali Malhoutra also executive produce the series, which comes from Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television.
