The release date is revealed for Brie Larson and J.J. Abrams' new horror movie.
Larson previously won an Academy Award for her performance in Room and received Primetime Emmy Award nominations for the Apple TV miniseries Lessons in Chemistry. She is also known for playing Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers in numerous Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and has also starred in Kong: Skull Island, Just Mercy, Fast X, and The Bear. Her most recent movie is 2026's The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, where she voiced Rosalina.
Deadline now reports that Larson's upcoming movie Skeletons will be released in theaters on June 4, 2027. J.J. Abrams is producing via Bad Robot Productions, while JT Mollner directs and added revisions to the original script written by Brian Duffield. The story is based on Philipp Fracassi's short story "Fail-Safe" and revolves around a young boy learning a dark secret that his parents are concealing about his mother's true nature.
Larson's co-stars include Kyle Gallner, Daithí Ó hAragáin, John Goodman, Willa Fitzgerald, Ione Skye, and Keith Carradine. This reunites Larson and Goodman after their roles in the 2017 Monsterverse movie Kong: Skull Island. The project is also a Strange Darling reunion, as Mollner wrote and directed the psychological crime thriller film, which features Gallner and Fitzgerald in the lead roles.
