Yerin Ha, the Korean-Australian actor who stars as Sophie Baek in Season 4 of Netflix’s Bridgerton, has been named Ambassador for The 32nd Annual Actor Awards Presented by SAG-AFTRA, awards producers announced today.
The Actor Awards, formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild Awards, will stream live on Netflix, on Sunday, March 1, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall. As previously announced, Kristen Bell will host and Harrison Ford will be presented with the Life Achievement Award.
Ha was selected as Ambassador “for exemplifying the utmost values of the acting profession, serving as a positive role model for the next generation of performers and actively using her platform to advocate for humanitarian and public service endeavors.” As Ambassador, Ha will attend the Actors Rising event, a special evening hosted by The Actors Awards that shines a light on the next generation of actors.
Ha will also provide exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the awards ceremony, participate in select Actor Awards pre-show events and raise awareness for the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. Previous Ambassadors include Sofia Carson, Noah Centineo, Taylor Zakhar Perez, Yara Shahidi, Joey King, Alexandra Daddario, Ross Butler, Jurnee Smollett, Haley Lu Richardson, Phil Dunster, Logan Browning, Antonia Gentry and Harry Shum Jr.
“Being named The Actor Awards Ambassador is such an honor because this ceremony is about actors celebrating actors,” Ha said in a statement. “There is something uniquely powerful about being recognized within your own community. As someone who cares so deeply about the craft and about collaboration, it means so much to represent the next generation of actors and be part of an event that uplifts storytelling.”
Ha is the first East Asian actress to lead Bridgerton. Her previous television credits include Netflix’s The Survivors, HBO’s Dune: Prophecy, and Paramount+’s Halo. On stage, Ha recently made her UK theater debut starring in Jean Genet’s The Maids at London’s Donmar Warehouse, which follows her earlier work at the Sydney Theatre Company in Lord of the Flies.
Silent House Productions will produce the annual ceremony for the third consecutive year.
