Brazil national team protests disallowed Vinicius Jr goal at World Cup as meme tokens see no meaningful reaction

2 hours ago 7

A VAR-disallowed goal by Vinicius Jr. in the 23rd minute of Brazil’s World Cup group-stage match against Scotland on June 24 triggered furious protests from coach Carlo Ancelotti and players including Neymar Jr. and Moraes. The decision, based on a foul called against Vinicius for his challenge on Scotland’s Jack Hendry, became one of the tournament’s earliest flashpoints.

Ancelotti and multiple Brazilian players confronted the referee crew after the reversal. Vinicius himself joined the protests before being separated from the officials.

No crypto connection despite the spectacle

Despite the global attention the incident generated, there is virtually zero connection between this World Cup controversy and the cryptocurrency market.

The Brazilian Football Confederation has no official cryptocurrency projects or blockchain initiatives tied to the national team. No tokens, no NFT partnerships, no fan token deals relevant to this match.

Unofficial meme tokens do exist. A token called VINI trades on Solana-based decentralized exchanges, loosely themed around Vinicius Jr. But it carries no endorsement from the player, Real Madrid, or any official entity.

Vinicius Jr. did release an NFT collection back in 2022, but that project has no relationship to the current World Cup or the VAR controversy.
