Bravo star Bethenney Frankel reveals 'major' misdiagnosis as she details health U-turn: 'I'm very confused'

Bethenny Frankel has had a wrench thrown in her health journey. 

The Real Housewives of New York City alum revealed she was 'misdiagnosed with something pretty major'.

In her latest video, Frankel, 55, described how a health issue she believed to have been diagnosed with was reversed after speaking with doctors at a 'medical community.'

Frankel did not reveal what the misdiagnosed ailment was but she has overall been open with fans in the past about her health.

She previously revealed she had been diagnosed with kidney disease, of which she has been facing a rollercoaster journey with. 

Now Frankel is encouraging followers who have questions about their own health to re-approach their medical care with a fine tooth comb. 

'I really don't want to tell you this but I have to tell you this because it could help one of you or several of you,' Frankel began.

She described how she had joined a medical community that reassesses every angle of a person's health - insisting the business was not a 'BS vanity concierge doctor.'  

'So I joined a medical community and it has teams of doctors that sort of cross reference your markers, your labs, longevity, it's sort of like, let's call it, people go to the Mayo Clinic, it's that sort of at home.

'Different facilities, and it's not just a BS like vanity concierge doctor, it's very, very legitimate. And they look at supplements you're taking, which people may say, they're great but maybe they're not great for you. 

'And they have said that I have been misdiagnosed with something pretty major.

'And they're pretty resolved. Could do is be very thorough in your labs, your check ups, your second, third opinions, your crowd sourcing of opinions. Thankfully now you have chat.

'Don't believe everything you hear on the internet. Don't believe everything that chat tells you, but I do believe that whether it's gluten intolerance or an allergy, or gut. Everybody's sort of saying that they have everything. 

The misdiagnosis has thrown Frankel for a loop.  

'I'm very confused because I was sort of operating with the idea that I do have this, and I don't want to throw anybody under the bus and try to do the right thing and it's very confusing and I just think there's nothing we should be more thorough about then our medical care, our health, and just think about it.'

Now she is urging her followers to be more 'thorough' with their own health. 

'Get a notebook out and whatever it is that you think you have or that someone said you have, or symptoms that you are experiencing, I think we are so thorough about restaurants and shopping and other things and business and I think we have to be very thorough about our health.'

It comes less than a year after Frankel revealed she had been diagnosed with kidney disease.

Frankel said her doctor told her the diagnosis 'could be a function of this traumatic experience I had years ago when I almost died from an allergy attack. It could have done damage to the kidney.'

Much like her latest update, Frankel was initially diagnosed with  stage two chronic kidney disease before she learned it was actually stage 3a chronic kidney disease.

Frankel hasn't let the health woes slow her down. 

She walked the runway at the 2026 Sports Illustrated SI Swimsuit Runway Show in her bikini and even found love this year. 

Frankel is now dating Shane Campbell, a senior managing director at FTI Consulting.

The reality star and the handsome Miami native were first linked in April and made their first public appearance together at the 2026 Global Champions Arabians Tour in Miami Beach.

'Bethenny is the happiest she's ever been and is fully in her intentional dating era,' a source told the Daily Mail in April.

The pair 'were holding hands during the entire event and barely left each other's side' a second source shared.

The insider added that they 'seemed to enjoy each other's company.'

Frankel went Instagram official with the former pro hockey player and investment banker in May, posting a snap of the pair passionately kissing during a roller skating date.

She captioned the snap: 'If a launch is hard this is a diamond…'
