Brandon Sanderson’s Favorite Legend Of Zelda Game Proves He’s A Connoisseur

Brandon Sanderson has enamored the world with his work, set in fantastical worlds with rich lore and striking characters. But he also has many hobbies, which have led him to help craft role-playing games, tabletop adaptations of his work, and, of course, video games. In one case, several of those hobbies converged in Moonbreaker​​​​, meant to recreate the thrill of playing a tabletop war game.

In case you missed it, Brandon Sanderson has shared his top 10 all-time favorite games on his official blog, and some of the choices are surprising. There's one pick in particular that stands out, as there's only one Legend of Zelda game on the list.

Sanderson's Favorite Zelda Is A Solid Pick

As fate would have it, Brandon Sanderson only provides one total Legend of Zelda game for his top 10: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. As one of the most successful games of all time (and kept fans talking for years on end), it makes perfect sense why some people would pick it over classics in the series like Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask.

"This one has my kind of humor, Brandon says, and we’re inclined to agree. If there was a game that was made for Brandon Sanderson’s taste in storytelling, it’s Breath of the Wild. [Breath of the Wild] combined the magic of classic game play with modern design aesthetic, Brandon says, doubling down on the fact that he loved this game. Without going into too much detail, as this game is already well-loved on the internet, Brandon shares that a few of his favorite aspects were the nonlinear narrative, clever use of flashbacks, and vibrant open world."

For a lot of fans, Breath of the Wild was the first Zelda game they played, and it'll always remain in their hearts. For others, including franchise veterans, it was incredibly easy to get lost in its world for days, months, or even years.
