Brandi Glanville said that her ex-husband Eddie Cibrian made things so difficult on her when she tried to retrieve her retirement funds amid their split, she had no choice but to take the issue to court.

The reality star, 53, said on a recent edition of on her podcast Brandi Glanville Unfiltered that she 'had to hire a lawyer to get my own 401K back' from the Sunset Beach actor, who 'was trying to keep it' in the wake of their 2010 divorce.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum said it cost her more than $10,000 and the process dragged out for a year after Cibrian, 52, made clear he 'didn't want to give' her the 401K on paper.

'He's like, get a lawyer - and so I did,' Glanville told co-host James Maas on the podcast. 

The Salinas, California native said she had to have a qualified domestic relations order (QDRO) preparation, which clarifies how exes split up retirement funds 401Ks and pensions.

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for both parties for further comment on the story.

Glanville also alluded to a situation that had been 'happening right now' she expected to have to hire an attorney for.

'I'm going to have to get a lawyer to fight, which is so ridiculous - I don't want that for anyone,' she said. 

Glanville said that a number of Bravo stars would be wise to organize their budgets, with her situation in mind.

'That goes back to Housewives, they're all getting divorced and half of them don't even have a 401K,' said Glanville, who is mother to two sons with Cibrian - Mason, 23, and Jake, 19.

She added: 'Get your s*** together ladies - know where the money is.'   

Following their affair on the set of the 2009 film Northern Lights, Cibrian parted ways with Glanville after eight years of marriage, and would tie the knot with singer-actress Leann Rimes in April of 2011. 

Glanville, in a July 2021 opinion piece she penned for The Sun, said she learned her ex-husband had been two-timing her through reports that surfaced in the news.

'There was video footage of them kissing over the table,' Glanville said. 'It was devastating. I went straight home, passed out in my closet, cried and cried.

'He tried to convince me it wasn't real but I knew it was over. They were sucking on each other's fingers in the footage yet he was telling me nothing was happening.'

Glanville said she had already been suspicious Cibrian had been unfaithful to her with Rimes.

'I’d sometimes visit him on set and notice chemistry with certain co-stars,' Glanville said. 'I’d ask him if something had gone down, but he’d tell me I was crazy.

'He’d say I was jealous and that he loved me. Then I’d think it was my fault, that I really was being crazy. But in my gut I knew I was probably right.'

Glanville said of the former romance, 'Eddie and I were together for 13 years and married for eight. We always promised each other that we would never get a divorce and that we’d love each other when we were old.'
