Bradley Walsh reveals he's QUIT Blankety Blank after six years as he says he 'doesn't have the time' to spend two months filming the reboot

Bradley Walsh has revealed he's quit his job as the host of BBC's Blankety Blank reboot because he 'doesn't have the time' to spend two months in filming.

The Chase frontman began hosting the revival of the hit game show back in 2020, but has confirmed in a new interview he's now too busy to return to the show.

Speaking to The Radio Times, Bradley said: 'I just don't have the time, which is sad because I've loved Blankety Blank. 

'It's been one of my favourite shows, and it's been brilliant... It's the most fun you can have in the studio, and I just cannot at the moment work on it. 

'I just have not got the time. I would normally go to the studio in October, but I'm all taken up in October and November, so I just haven't time to do it. Maybe next year.'

Bradley also shared that he is due to go on tour with The Prat Pack later this year, and also has several TV projects in the works which means he cannot film Blankety Blank.

He will be joining pals Brian Conley, Joe Pasquale and Shane Richie onstage for 17 shows across the UK, beginning on September 2 in Edinburgh and not wrapping up until September 26, at the London Palladium.

Bradley had previously been a hot favourite to replace Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman as the new host of Strictly Come Dancing, but his touring schedule ruled him out of the running.

The presenter also hosts BBC's Saturday night hit Gladiators with his son Barney, with Bradley sharing he's just wrapped filming on a new series that will air in 2027.

Bradley's schedule was freed up for his upcoming tour amid reports that his other hit show The Chase has already seen filming halted.

ITV's dramatic cuts which have seen a number of programmes suffer after Daytime bosses slashed resources with job losses in excess of 220. 

The Chase, which usually records in three stints a year, wrapped filming its latest series in April, but there are said to be 'no plans' for any more until next year. 

A source said: 'Everyone found out a few weeks ago and people on set were very miffed and upset as they’ll be out of pocket.

'It’s been quite a shock and very disappointing. Many crew members feel worried and scared for the future during an uncertain time in TV.' 

They added to The Sun: 'It’s a deeply unsettling time financially for everyone involved in The Chase. Surely loyal viewers will notice too, if they’re being fed repeat episodes.' 

An ITV spokesman told the Daily Mail: 'The Chase has just finished recording series 19 which completes its recording schedule for this year. ITV continue to air The Chase as usual, with a combination of new and repeat episodes across the year.

'With over 2.5 million viewers per show, The Chase remains one of the nation’s most loved quiz shows.'
