Brad Pitt’s F1 Sequel Will Be A "Bit Of A Wait,” Reveals Star

Brad Pitt’s F1 sequel may already be in the works, but audiences should not expect it to race onto screens anytime soon.

In an interview with ScreenRant's Ash Crossan during the Pressure junket, Condon shared a promising, but patient update on the sequel’s status. The actor revealed that progress is happening behind the scenes, though scheduling complications mean audiences may have to wait a while before seeing Sonny Hayes return to the track. Read her comments below:

Yeah, I have heard about that, and they all love the script, but I guess it's going to be when Joe, our director, is available, and then also we have to go with the F1 schedule. So it might be a little bit of a wait, but I think that's okay.

The comments suggest the biggest challenge may be logistics. Kosinski has become one of Hollywood’s busiest blockbuster directors following the success of Top Gun: Maverick and F1, while the franchise’s close relationship with Formula One itself adds another layer of complexity. Because large portions of the first film were shot during actual Grand Prix weekends, production schedules are inherently tied to the real-world racing calendar.

That authenticity became one of F1’s biggest strengths. Instead of relying solely on sound stages or CGI recreations, the production embedded itself within real Formula One events, placing the cast on actual tracks surrounded by fans and professional teams. The result helped distinguish the film from previous racing dramas and earned praise for immersing audiences in the sport's speed and intensity.

Beyond strong reviews, F1 became one of Apple’s biggest theatrical wins and helped cement the company as a more serious player in prestige blockbuster filmmaking. The movie also generated awards-season buzz, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Picture, particularly for its technical achievements and practical filmmaking approach.

Following its strong theatrical run and critical success, talks of a sequel quickly gained momentum. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer previously confirmed that conversations were underway, teasing that the team was already developing ideas for where the story could go next after the first movie’s high-stakes ending.

Its ending certainly left the door open for more. After Sonny Hayes’ dramatic return to Formula One, the movie concluded with emotional resolutions for the central team while still leaving questions about what might come next for the aging driver in the F1 sequel.

Fortunately for Condon, audiences will not have to wait long to see her next project. The actor stars in Pressure, the upcoming movie arriving in theaters on May 29, which reveals what happened in the 72 hours before D-Day during World War II, and also stars Brendan Fraser, Andrew Scott, and Damien Lewis.

Pressure hits theaters May 29, and F1 is available to stream on Apple TV.
