EXCLUSIVE:  The MGM+ series Bosch: Start of Watch has added six to its cast, including Raphael Sbarge (Task), Seamus Dever (Castle), Kenneth Miller (Presumed Innocent), Marco Rodriguez (Nightcrawler), Rafi Gavron (A Star Is Born), and Ryan McPartlin (Chuck).

Based on Michael Connelly’s best-selling Bosch book series, the prequel series is set in 1991 Los Angeles and follows 26-year-old Harry Bosch (Cameron Monaghan) during his earliest days as a rookie cop. The series will explore a city on the edge, teeming with racial tension, gang violence, and a fractured LAPD. Amid routine calls and growing unrest, Bosch finds himself drawn into a high-profile heist and a web of criminal corruption that will test his loyalty to the badge and shape his future as the detective who lives by the code, “Everybody counts or nobody counts.”

Dever will play Officer Hastings, AKA “Mr. Fix It”, a blunt, no-nonsense training officer assigned to boots on the brink of not passing probation.

Miller will play Fremlin, a hardworking member of Cory’s (JD Pardo) crew who keeps his head down and gets the job done – no questions asked, as long as the payday’s right.

McPartlin will play Detective Mike Garner, a pigheaded CRASH detective who quickly shuts Bosch down for overstepping.

Sbarge will play Sergeant “Sunshine” Finn, a cold and meticulous Sergeant whose rigid, detail-oriented standards spark fear in rookies.

Rodriguez will play Max Vargas, a grizzled ex-con whose return from prison threatens to disrupt his son Corey’s life.

Gavron will play Restrepo, Cory’s trusted right hand – sharp, loyal, and never afraid to ask the hard questions when something doesn’t add up.

The series also stars Omari Hardwick as Eli Bridges, Bosch’s training officer; Ariana Guerra as Rosa, a rookie LAPD officer; Pardo as Cory, a professional thief; Azita Ghanizada as Stacy, an ambitious, razor-sharp lawyer; William Fichtner as Calhern, a respected defense attorney-turned-power broker; and Kathleen Wilhoite as Helen, Bosch’s devoted foster mother.

There is no direct source material for Start of Watch since author Connelly’s Bosch book series does not include a prequel. The story came together through bits and pieces from Harry’s early years, which are planted in various novels in the universe, with Connelly calling the prequel “uncharted character territory.”

Produced by Fabel Entertainment, Bosch: Start of Watch is co-created and executive produced by Bosch: Legacy co-developer/executive producer Tom Bernardo and Legacy co-executive producer Brian Anthony, with Bernardo serving as showrunner. Connelly, Henrik Bastin, Jamie Boscardin Martin and Jasmine Russ also serve as executive producers. Theresa Snider co-executive produces for Hieronymus Pictures. Seth Yanklewitz is the casting director.

Dever is repped by Metropolitan Talent Agency, Bret Adams Agency, and Vault Entertainment. Miller is repped by agent Joseph Le and Matt Sherman Management. McPartlin is represented by Mosaic / CESD Talent Agency. Sbarge is repped by Main Title Entertainment and BRS/Gage. Rodriguez is repped by Ellis Talent Group and Mills Kaplan Entertainment.

Gavron is repped by Gersh, Affirmative Entertainment, Emptage Hallett in the UK, and Brecheen Feldman Breimer Silver & Thompson.
