Boruto: Two Blue Vortex will release its first chapter of 2025 soon, and it is bound to be thrilling. With an air of danger hanging over the manga, things are about to escalate, and this chapter could be pivotal. Set three years after Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Two Blue Vortex sees Boruto as a fugitive, accused of murdering Naruto and Hinata. In truth, Kawaki trapped the couple in a pocket dimension and used Omnipotence to frame Boruto. Boruto returns to Konoha amidst an attack by Code and fights to protect his loved ones and prevent an imminent threat.
The series is currently in its second story arc, and that's proving more explosive than anyone could have predicted. On the recommendation of Kashin Koji, Shikamaru sends Sarada, Mitsuki, and Konohamaru to the Land of Wind to meet up with Sand ninjas and take down two of the God Trees; Ryu and Matsuri. With the possibility of Boruto's involvement cut off and seemingly impossible, Team 7 will face some of the most powerful creatures alone and with no backup.

What Happened In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #17?
The Confrontation Draws Near And Kawaki Finally Confronts Amado
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #17 begins with Sarada reflecting on her encounter with Sumire during the mission when Mitsuki snaps her out of it. After observing Matsuri and Ryu and confirming the intelligence gathered, Konohamaru and the group approach the God Trees to begin their conversation. As Konohamaru speaks, Matsuri starts to feel nervous, prompting Ryu to take over the discussion.
The chapter then flashes back to a meeting between Shikamaru and Konohamaru that took place prior to the mission. During this meeting, Shikamaru explained that, in order to restore Moegi and Shinki, they need to eliminate the God Trees and collect the Thorn Soul Bulbs. Konohamaru questions the source of the intel and after Shikamaru shuts this question down, he tells him about his plan to take down the enemies.
Because the God Trees were born recently, they aren't driven by evil but rather by curiosity, Konohamaru's team would take advantage of this by befriending them with a mutual goal of finding Boruto. The scene shifts back to the present, and after Konohamaru introduces himself and asks Ryu and Matsuri to work together, they agree. Mitsuki finds one of Boruto's pin metals, and Konohamaru suggests splitting up to investigate a wider area. Konohamaru would stay with Matsuri and Ryu would go off with Mitsuki and Sarada elsewhere.

In the world of the shinobi, brutality persists, and a ninja leader must make decisions that may not align with their personal preferences.
The scene flashes back to the meeting again, and Shikamaru informs Konohamaru that Moegi used to have romantic feelings for him, and this is why he is Matsuri's target. Shikamaru was going to take advantage of this, as Matsuri would be nervous around him and wouldn't know the emotion that was swelling inside her. The plan was for Sarada's group to ambush Ryu and take him down, and then meet back up with Konohamaru and take down Matsuri. Back in Orochimaru's cave, Boruto and Kashin Koji are monitoring the mission with the help of Eida's Clairvoyance.
Boruto asks Kashin Koji about the mission's failure rate, and after receiving a vague answer, he reiterates his question. Kashin Koji reminds him that no matter what, he cannot interfere in the mission as it would lead to Jura taking action. Back at Konoha, a librarian is shocked to see Jura come to the register with books to buy them. The chapter ends with Kawaki confronting Amado and forcefully asking him to remove his limiters. Given how much Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter #17 is setting up, fans have good reason to be excited for Chapter #18.
The Mission To Subdue The God Trees Continues
Konohamaru And Matsuri Will Continue Their Conversation
It is anyone's guess what will happen in the next chapter, but the sneak peek shows Matsuri and Konohamaru continuing their conversation. Matsuri opens up to him, sharing that she feels like her true self when she is with him. At first glance, this might not seem significant, but considering Konohamaru's hesitation when Shikamaru shared the strategy, these words could further complicate matters and potentially lead to unexpected outcomes during the mission.
Something that is just as exciting, if not more, is Kawaki's confrontation with Amado. While Kawaki's main aim is to have his limiters removed, he also has questions for the scheming scientist. This could lead to the possibility of fans and Kawaki finding out what Amado's goal with the young boy is and why he has been monitoring him for so long. Amado is responsible for the biggest revelations and lore drops in the series, such as the existence of Shibai Otsustsuki, so his conversation with Kawaki could lead to some interesting developments.
Though fans haven't quite seen the full extent of Kawaki's future powers, the flash forward that Boruto: Naruto Next Generation begins with hints that Kawaki will be on Boruto's level in the very near future.
This next chapter has two exciting routes it could take. The chapter could focus on Sarada and Mitsuki's ambush on Ryu, which will no doubt lead to an exciting fight. As enticing as that would be though, Kawaki and Amado's conversation is equally as interesting, and besides Kawaki finally becoming stronger, it could also lead to reveals from Amado. Whichever path this chapter takes, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter #18 will have potentially great dialogue and reveals, or exciting action.
