Bob Saget's widow Kelly Rizzo says she 'feels guilty for feeling happy' amid romance with boyfriend Breckin Meyer... almost five years after Full House star's shock death

Bob Saget's widow Kelly Rizzo reflected on the 'weird realities' of grief almost five years after his untimely passing at 65.

Rizzo, 47, who debuted her relationship with actor Breckin Meyer almost two years after the Full House star's death, also shared how she sometimes feels 'guilt for feeling happy' in a message shared to Instagram. 

Saget died in January 2022 in his hotel room at The Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes in Florida. Investigators determined he had accidentally fallen backward, struck his head, went to sleep, and did not wake up.

'Weird things about grief almost 5 years after losing my husband,' Rizzo wrote in a slide of photos showing the couple during happy times.

'I'm still coming to terms with the fact that there will never be another new photo of him.'

And she admitted: 'I still feel guilty for feeling happy.'

Rizzo even chided herself for judging other people who started dating 'too soon' after a spouse's death.

'Sometimes you catch yourself judging someone else's grief. Which of course is off limits! I heard about somebody dating again after two months, and I immediately thought, "that's too soon!" Then I feel bad for judging,' she admitted.

Across one photo of Rizzo and Saget hugging for a a selfie, she revealed: 'The crying still shows up at the weirdest times!

'Sometimes I catch myself thinking my grief counts less because I only knew Bob for six years.'

Their total relationship spanned six years, just a little over three years married. 

'You still don't want them to be forgotten. Say their name, tell their stories, it's so strange how the world still keeps moving,' she reflected.

Rizzo noted that 'dreams don't follow a timeline. I didn't dream about Bob really for years, and I had my first significant dream about him just this year.'

And even though time has passed, her life is 'still divided into before and after. BBD and ABD (Before Bob Died and After Bob Died).'

She added: 'Small talk is still unbearable. You don't have time for surface level stuff anymore.'

In the caption, Rizzo had more to say: 'Grief morphs and changes forms and evolves over time. It's always still there. It just has different personalities from month to month and year to year. What else would you add to this list??'

Rizzo and Meyer, 52, went public with their romance in February 2024 at a Grammy Awards viewing party, and she has praised him for being supportive and kind as she navigates life and grief following Saget's passing.

In October 2024, Rizzo revealed she isn’t looking to get married again anytime soon.

Speaking to People at her late husband's Cool Comedy, Hot Cuisine event for the Scleroderma Research Foundation, Rizzo said: 'I am in a very wonderful place. I don't want kids. I've been married before, so I'm not in any rush to get married because why?

'I'm not in a rush to do it. So I'm just enjoying life right now and just enjoying my time with (Meyer). And whatever happens one day happens.'

Rizzo also opened up about how supportive Meyer has been in respecting Saget's legacy.

'He is very comfortable and confident,' she shared. 'I said, "I never want to ask you to do anything that you would be uncomfortable with." And he's like, "Trust me, if it's a problem, I will let you know."'

Rizzo noted: 'It does take a very confident, strong person to show up here.

'But he loved Bob too. So it's a very comfortable environment for him.'

In an interview with E! News, Rizzo shared that Meyer has even been 'welcomed' by the late star's daughters, Aubrey, 39, Lara, 37, and Jennifer, 34, who he had with ex-wife Sherri Kramer.

'It's pretty impossible not to like Breckin,' she told the outlet.

'He's met Bob's girls multiple times. We've had dinners together. They adore him. He adores them. It's been really, really nice. They've kind of welcomed him.'
