EXCLUSIVE: Blumhouse Television has hired Irish Cowboy Productions’ Abbey Morris as Senior Vice President of Development & Programming.

In her new role, she will work closely with Melissa Aouate, President of Blumhouse Television, overseeing the creative team’s scripted development slate. The division’s recent work includes the upcoming series Scarpetta, starring Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis, premiering on Prime Video in March. She will report to Chris Dickie, EVP of Blumhouse Television.

Morris moves to Blumhouse after four years as Senior Vice President at Irish Cowboy Productions, working under showrunner Steve Blackman’s overall deal with Netflix. During her tenure, she oversaw development and production across the company’s slate, including as Executive Producer on Season 4 of The Umbrella Academy, and developing the Sony PlayStation adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn.

Prior to Irish Cowboy, Morris served as Vice President of Development at Fabrik Entertainment (now Fabel Entertainment), where she led development across a broad slate of projects, including Brilliant Minds for NBC and produced the Paramount+ crime series Interrogation.

Earlier in her career, Morris held roles at Mandeville TV and The Gotham Group.

A Detroit native, Morris began her career as a producer and writer for Detroit Public Television, where she won two Michigan Emmy Awards for Best Writing Program and Outstanding Children’s Program.

“Abbey is a creative executive with exceptional taste and judgment, and someone I’ve trusted for a long time,” said Aouate. “I’ve seen firsthand how she leads development with intention and a deep respect for storytellers. She brings a sharp point of view and real momentum to our slate, and I’m thrilled to welcome her to the team.”
