Billionaire Kim Kardashian is shocked by daughter North West asking her followers for MONEY on Instagram Live

Kim Kardashian appeared to be thrown for a loop when her daughter North West asked her followers for money during a recent Instagram Live session.

The 45-year-old reality TV icon joined her 12-year-old daughter for the chat, but she stayed out of the frame in a clip that subsequently went viral on social media.

That disappointed North, who appeared to want her mom to how up on screen so that her viewers would lavish her with virtual gifts.

The Daily Mail has reached out to Kardashian's representative for comment.

Kim — who has reportedly been 'enjoying a secret romance' with British racing driver Lewis Hamilton in recent weeks — refused to show her face and instead just stuck up a hand behind North while wiggling her fingers to show that she was present.

'You should just show your face, because . . . I don't know,' North said in exasperation.

'I want some money!' she added, drawing out the last word and grinning, which revealed the blacked-out grill that she was wearing over her teeth.

'What?!' a shocked Kim shot back. 'No, we don't ask — no, no, no.'

'OK!' North replied in apparent exasperation.

After telling off her oldest daughter, whom she shares with her ex-husband Kanye West, Kim then softened and asked, 'What do you mean?'

'Because, TikTok Live, like —' North began to explain, but Kim cut her off to correct her that 'This isn't TikTok Live, this is Instagram.

'So you were, like, kind of messed up for a second,' the All's Fair star said in a softer voice as North repeated, 'I know, I know.'

Then, Kim admitted, 'I thought you were asking me for something,' before letting out a laugh.

North's potential confusion about which social media platform she was using at the moment was understandable, as Instagram and TikTok have both adopted features over the years that give them similar user experiences.

But TikTok — whose Chinese parent company got approval this month for a controversial deal in which it will sell off the app to a Donald Trump–backed American buyer — allows viewers of live sessions to share virtual gifts with creators, and those gifts in turn are added to their earnings.

It's unclear how much money a face reveal from Kim could have ultimately netted the TikTok account that she and North share.

North — who posts from @kimandnorth on TikTok, where her bio says the account is 'managed by an adult' — boasts an astounding 20.7 million followers on the platform, while she has around 1.8 million followers on Instagram.

The nepo baby's video went viral just days after she made a surprise appearance on stage with her father, Kanye.

The two gave an unexpected duet performance of his 2024 song Only One at the Monumental Plaza de Toros La Mexico.

North performed with her dad less than a week after he took out a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal to apologize for his antisemitic rants in recent years.

The 48-year-old rapper blamed them on his bipolar diagnosis, and he claimed that he had been unable to accept the diagnosis while under the sway of devastating manic episodes.

West, who also issued an apology to 'the Black community' in his statement, claimed that a car crash that broke his jaw 25 years earlier had also damaged the 'right frontal lobe' of his brain, which went unnoticed and untreated at the time.

North appeared to have gotten Instagram mixed up with TikTok, which allows viewers to give virtual gifts worth money. Kim joked that she thought North was asking her for money at first

Last month, West apologized for antisemitic statements he made in a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal. He claimed untreated frontal lobe trauma from a car crash led him to develop bipolar disorder, which overtook his life; West and North seen in 2020 in Paris

According to West, the unchecked damage eventually led to his bipolar type-1 diagnosis.

He wrote that his manic periods kept him from realizing that he was unwell and made him defensive when his loved ones tried to help him.

'Once people label you as "crazy", you feel as if you cannot contribute anything meaningful to the world. It's easy for people to joke and laugh it off when in fact this is a very serious debilitating disease you can die from,' West said. 'According to the World Health Organization and Cambridge University, people with bipolar disorder have a life expectancy that is shortened by ten to fifteen years on average, and a 2x-3x higher all-cause mortality rate than the general population.

'This is on par with severe heart disease, type-1 diabetes, HIV, and cancer — all lethal and fatal if left untreated,' he added.

West, who admitted to 'losing touch with reality,' said he 'gravitated toward the most destructive symbol' he could find, 'the swastika.'

He said his experience with bipolar disorder progressed to the point where he was under the influence of a four-month-long manic phase in 2025, which led to dark periods in which he 'didn't want to be here anymore.'

However, after serious intervention, he said he found a 'new baseline and new center through an effective regime of medication, therapy, exercise and clean living.'
