The Meta Quest 3S is the latest headset to be released by Facebook's parent company and it's also a relatively budget-friendly addition to the lineup. The new mixed-reality headset starts at just $300, which is considerably less than you'd pay to put the higher-end Meta Quest 3 on your head. With the Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro both discontinued, the Quest 3S is the option to choose if you want to enjoy the world of VR gaming for less. Unfortunately, the standard $300 has yet to see any discounts, but most retailers are offering bundled games and services to make the headset even more appealing. Don't worry though, we'll be keeping an eye out for the best deals so you get the most bang for your buck.
CNET's Scott Stein got some hands-on experience with the Meta Quest 3S, and while a full review is forthcoming, his initial impression was that, "the Quest 3S is a really good price for what it can do."

The new model comes equipped with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon XR 2 Gen 2 chip found in the Meta Quest 3, and it has a better color passthrough camera, which enables mixed reality like its predecessor. The controllers are the same as well. It also has the Fresnel lenses and display resolution of the now-discontinued Quest 2. If you're willing to splurge a little more, the $500 Meta Quest 3 may be worth the added cost for the additional storage and higher-quality lenses and displays.
If you're looking for a lower cost, this headset upgrade has a lot to offer, including access to apps and games that older Meta Quest consoles can't run. If you do choose to upgrade to the Meta Quest 3S, Meta's also throwing in a free download of the new game Batman: Arkham Shadow with purchase as well as a three-month subscription to Meta Quest Plus. Just note that the subscription service will run you $8 a month, once your trial expires.
