BeOne Medicines reported a 36% liver cancer response rate as new clinical results strengthened its oncology drug pipeline. The company presented findings across liver, lung, and breast cancers at the ESMO Congress 2026 in Madrid. Meanwhile, BeOne Medicines AG (ONC) stock fell 1.21% to $377.63, losing $4.64 despite progress across several experimental treatments.
BeOne Medicines Reports 36% Liver Cancer Response Rate in Phase 1 Trial
BeOne Medicines presented updated Phase 1 results for BGB-B2033, an experimental treatment targeting advanced hepatocellular carcinoma. The treatment achieved a confirmed objective response rate of 36% at the selected Phase 3 dose. Moreover, the results exceeded the approximately 5% response rates associated with certain late-line tyrosine kinase inhibitors.
The study included 94 patients, with 93.6% previously receiving PD-(L)1 immunotherapy. Additionally, 61.7% had undergone treatment with both immunotherapy and a tyrosine kinase inhibitor. At the selected dose, researchers estimated a six-month confirmed response durability rate of 74.1%.
Safety findings also supported further development, with 5.3% of patients experiencing severe treatment-related adverse events. Only 2.1% discontinued treatment because of treatment-related complications across the tested dose levels. Furthermore, BeOne plans to begin global registrational trials before the end of 2026.
BeOne Advances Lung Cancer Treatments With Strong Early Clinical Results
BeOne also released initial clinical findings for BGB-58067, an experimental PRMT5 inhibitor targeting MTAP-deficient cancers. Among 75 evaluable lung cancer patients, the treatment achieved a confirmed response rate of 25.3%. Additionally, researchers recorded a disease control rate of 76%, indicating activity beyond confirmed tumor responses.
The treatment achieved a 38.5% response rate among patients with EGFR wild-type lung cancer. Meanwhile, median progression-free survival reached 7.7 months across the broader non-small cell lung cancer cohort. Researchers also recorded a 30.8% intracranial response rate among patients with untreated, asymptomatic brain metastases.
Separately, BeOne reported encouraging findings for BG-C477, its internally developed antibody-drug conjugate targeting CEA-expressing tumors. The treatment achieved a 56% confirmed response rate among 25 patients with high CEA expression. Furthermore, its disease control rate reached 88%, supporting plans for additional clinical development during 2027.
BeOne Expands Breast Cancer Pipeline Through Phase 3 KANDELA-302 Trial
Beyond liver and lung cancer, BeOne continues advancing BGB-43395, an experimental selective CDK4 inhibitor. The company launched enrollment for its global Phase 3 KANDELA-302 breast cancer trial in May 2026. The study targets patients with HR-positive, HER2-negative advanced or metastatic breast cancer receiving first-line treatment.
Researchers will compare BGB-43395 plus letrozole against three established CDK4/6 inhibitors combined with letrozole. These comparison treatments include abemaciclib, palbociclib, and ribociclib, which already serve important roles in breast cancer care. The trial will measure progression-free survival as its primary endpoint and overall survival as a key secondary endpoint.
Meanwhile, BeOne continues expanding its solid tumor portfolio beyond its established blood cancer operations. The FDA previously granted BGB-B2033 Fast Track and Orphan Drug designations for liver cancer. Together, the latest clinical findings establish several development milestones, although larger trials must confirm the early treatment results.
