Benito Skinner Looks Nearly Unrecognizable With Blonde Hair Transformation
Benito Skinner is definitely not overcompensating with his new look.
The Overcompensating star—also known as Benny Drama—debuted an epic hair transformation at Teen Vogue Fest in Brooklyn, New York on July 25, ditching his signature dark locks for a blonde hair makeover.
The 32-year-old revealed his fresh 'do while on the red carpet at the event, according to footage shot by @jpasc24, turning heads with his platinum locks, which stood out against his purple ERL polo and khaki-colored shorts. To accessorize, Skinner paired his preppy look with silver-rimmed glasses and a skinny black belt.
After unveiling his hair transformation, the Queer as Folk actor shared a photo of his new bleached tresses on Instagram, captioning the shot, "that’s the thing with the ambition...," seemingly referencing lyrics from Zara Larsson's 2025 song "The Ambition."
But that wasn't all. Indeed, Skinner gave fans a closer look at his blonde hair in a selfie on his Instagram Stories, writing alongside the photo, "hehe."
Yet, the Comeback star—who rose to fame on social media for his celebrity impression videos—didn't forget about his TikTok followers either. After all, Skinner showed off his hair transformation in a fun video alongside his Overcompensating costar Owen Thiele, with the pair lip-syncing to Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter's 2026 track "Bring Your Love."
And it's safe to say fans are loving Skinner's new look, with the actor even being compared to a young Freddie Prinze Jr.
"tat’s my freddie prinzie jr [@bennydrama7]," a fan commented on Skinner's Instagram post, while another said, "so blonde and out of touch like it’s 2007," to which Skinner replied, "EXACTLY!"

Skinner drastically changed up his hair just two weeks after wrapping up the sophomore season of Overcompensating, which is loosely based on his college experience.
While the first season premiered on Prime Video last May, it was previously in development limbo for years. But Skinner didn't give up.
"I was so passionate about it, I knew the world and everything I wanted for it," he explained at Teen Vogue Fest on July 25, per the outlet. "For anyone going in TV or film, you have to fight so much for these projects to be made."
As for how he broke the glass ceiling?
"It was making sure that I had everything outlined," he added, "make it as undeniable as possible and something I could fight for in a thousand meetings. When I think about casting or music or directors, I make sure that I can stand behind it 1000 percent. I’m really fortunate that there’s not one decision in Overcompensating that I don’t stand behind."
