Ben Affleck spends quality time with son Samuel after ex Jennifer Lopez admitted she felt 'free' post-divorce

Ben Affleck was spotted spending quality time with his son Samuel after attending his basketball game.

He was a doting dad as he walked alongside his 14-year-old son to his car to drive him home after attending the teenager's basketball game on Thursday.

For their outing, Affleck, 53, was in business casual attire, sporting a blue button-down shirt paired with khaki pants and reflective, aviator sunglasses.

His son Samuel is the youngest out of three children Affleck shares with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner. 

The Batman star and Garner, who were married from 2005 to 2018, are also parents to Violet, 20, and Fin, 17. 

Prior to his romance with Garner, he was engaged to Jennifer Lopez, whom he reconciled with in the past decade, married in 2022 but divorced in 2024. 

Affleck's outing with his son was his first public sighting since his ex Lopez admitted she feels 'free' and 'happy' after their final split. 

Earlier this month, Lopez opened up about her newest chapter of life as a single woman and adamantly insisted she was in no rush to start dating someone new. 

In a sit-down interview with Juju Chang on Nightline, the 56-year-old actress was asked if she was 'dating up a storm.' 

In response, the singer said: 'No! No I'm not! God forbid, I don't want to ruin anything. It's so nice right now. I'm so happy. It's the best. I just feel really good right now.' 

Lopez also admitted being single 'was a scary thing for me when I was younger.' 

'I didn't know if I could do that,' she continued. 'I was always really afraid to be alone.'

Two years earlier, Lopez and Affleck ended their marriage after rekindling their romance during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Since then, Affleck has been keeping busy, meeting up with Garner every once in a while as they continue amicably co-parenting their kids. 

As for his second wife, he's also had run-ins with Lopez at their respective children's school events and even on the red carpet.

As for his professional life, he has been hard at work alongside his longtime friend and business partner Matt Damon with their indie studio Artists Equity. 

On the same day as Affleck's outing with his son, the Oscar-winning screenwriters announced a Writers' Room program in their initiative to develop original screenplays. 

They finalized their Writers' Room after two pilot rounds, which has yielded four scripts and four more still in progress, per Deadline. 

Prior to their in-house development initiative, Affleck and Damon, Artists Equity's CEO and Chief Content Officer, revealed Netflix had acquired an AI company they built under the radar.
