Below Deck Sailing Yacht Season 5 Has Exposed Daisy Kelliher's Flaws (Will She Get Fired?)

2 days ago 4

Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher has starred in Below Deck Sailing Yacht since season 2, but her disastrous run on the latest installment could finally result in her firing. The Irish yachtie replaced Jenna MacGillivray and, overall, she's been a much better Chief Stew than her chaotic predecessor. Known for her no-nonsense leadership style, Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 has revealed flaws in Daisy's management abilities, which could lead to her dismissal from the show.

Gary King was accused of sexual misconduct by former Bravo employee Samantha Suarez after filming season 4, but he wasn't let go by the franchise. Instead, he was given a slap on the wrist by production and reduced screen time in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5. However, it seems like production is trying to shift the villain edit from Gary to Daisy in an attempt to erase his wrongdoing over several seasons. She has struggled with guests, her underlings, Gary, and even Chef Cloyce Martin. Will she make it through the charter season?

Daisy Kelliher Struggled With Recent Guests

They Seemed To Loathe Her

Daisy struggled with the charter guests in the most recent episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5. The guests seemed poised to complain about everything, but they had a special disdain for Daisy, who got increasingly tense as the charter continued. Almost immediately, they whined about the speed of Daisy's service as she served margaritas or fresh glasses of champagne. Daisy became uncomfortable and questioned her abilities as Chief Stew, which only made the charter unravel further.

The guests hated Daisy's cocktail course, complaining about the lack of sweetness in the mango martinis and the general taste profile of other drinks. Daisy could sense how awkward everyone felt and retreated into herself. In contrast, Aesha Scott is usually able to cool down heated situations by reading guests' behavior and making jokes, or switching courses to match their energy. While the guests enjoyed Chef Cloyce's food, they didn't like Daisy's drinks, and she even spilled one on a charter guest. It was so disastrous that the guests might not tip the crew.

Daisy Kelliher's Too Focused On Her Relationship With Gary

Her Job Performance Is Suffering

Daisy has been more focused on her relationship with Gary than keeping things onboard the Parsifal III running smoothly, but it's not entirely her fault. After Emma Crouch was unceremoniously fired due to laziness and incompetence, former Deckhand Chase Lemacks was hired to replace her. However, his presence led to a problem with sleeping arrangements. Daisy didn't want to mess with Diana Cruz and Danni Warren's setup, knowing that they already disliked her. She proposed rooming with Gary, her former love interest and fair-weather friend.

Gary and Daisy would be perfect together, but they need to work out their issues offscreen before hooking up again.

Gary has made it obvious that he's still interested in Daisy and wants to pursue a relationship with her, a desire that he doubled down on in a recent episode of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Daisy donned a beautiful emerald dress as she and Gary stepped off the boat and got a drink together at a cute Spanish café. Daisy and Gary would be perfect together, but she's understandably resistant to the idea due to his past behavior. He has to prove that he's really changed before Daisy will consider a real relationship with him.

Daisy needs to get Gary out of her head and focus on gaining the respect of her stews, Diana and Danni, who sometimes ignore her instructions. Additionally, she needs to stay focused on the detailed aspects of her job, like inventory and presentation. Otherwise, disastrous charters will continue.

Should Daisy Get Fired?

She Is Still The Best Woman For The Job

Daisy has made mistakes in Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5, but she shouldn't be fired. There aren't many viable cast members who could replace Daisy as Chief Stew, and she's still the best person for the job. It's not her fault that Diana and Danni are whiny and ineffective stews; she just needs to be tougher on them moving forward, and not care whether they like her or not. Additionally, Gary needs to leave Daisy alone, so he can work through his issues on his own.

Daisy is a cornerstone of the Below Deck Sailing Yacht franchise. Production wants to make Daisy the villain, but it's an unfair assessment of her recent mistakes. If Bravo is okay with keeping Gary around, there's no reason for Daisy to get fired from Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Captain Glenn Shephard probably wouldn't allow it.
