Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has passed a major milestone as it approaches becoming one of the ten highest-grossing movies of the year. The new movie is a legacy sequel to the original 1988 horror-comedy classic, featuring director Tim Burton reuniting with stars Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O'Hara alongside a new ensemble cast that includes Jenna Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, and Monica Bellucci. The Beetlejuice Beetlejuice box office kicked off September with an $111 million opening weekend, the third-best of the year so far.
Per Variety, as of Sunday morning, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is projected to earn a cumulative worldwide total of $264 million at the global box office by the end of its second weekend in theaters. This means that the movie has likely hit its break-even point, which given its $100 million budget was probably somewhere in the realm of $250 million. On top of passing that major milestone, this whopping gross means that the movie has climbed to No. 12 on the chart of the highest-grossing 2024 movies, surpassing A Quiet Place: Day One's worldwide gross of $261.5 million.
More to come...
