BBC bosses are reportedly considering bringing back Miranda Hart's beloved sitcom.

Miranda aired from 2009 to 2015 and saw the 53-year-old become one of the nation's most loved stars.

After a retreat from public life due to battling ill health, the comedian is now back on everyone's radar due to her successful stint on the current series of The Celebrity Traitors.

While she was sadly 'murdered' in Friday night's installment she has been a firm favourite with viewers of the show due to her warm and funny personality.

And now her much-loved show might be back, with an insider saying BBC bosses are looking at doing a potential fourth series of Miranda or a one-off special.

A source said: 'Miranda has reminded everyone just how loved she is. There's been a huge reaction to her on Celebrity Traitors, and the BBC will have noticed just how much affection there still is for her.

'There is a real appetite for more Miranda. The show has had a new generation discovering her, while those who grew up watching the sitcom are desperate to see her back on screen.'

The source added to The Sun: 'There have been conversations about whether Miranda could return among bosses. A one-off special could be a brilliant way to bring Miranda back, and the possibility of another series is something the BBC would love to explore.'

The BBC declined to comment when contacted by the Daily Mail.

Miranda followed her as the socially awkward, joke-shop-owning lead character and also starred the likes of Tom Ellis and Sarah Hadland.

Celebrity Traitors fans were left 'devastated' as Miranda became the fifth star to be murdered on Friday night's episode.

The star was killed by Traitors Maya Jama, James Acaster and King Kenny after they feared she was getting too close to the truth.

Reading her murder letter, a devastated Miranda said: 'No! Absolutely not. Oh bottoms. I knew it. I'm so cross with myself.

'Ultimately, in my little personal story, this has been quite extraordinary that I have been able to get back and do the thing that I love professionally and do the things that I love personally, like wandering around the Scottish Highlands and being in nature and laughing and connecting.

'There were times that I didn't think that would be possible again.'

Following her exit, fans took to X to share their upset, writing: 'Devastated doesn't even come close to how i'm feeling, what a joy it was to watch miranda hart on our screens again,'

'Miranda Hart being murdered the same weekend as the clocks go back is the worst thing that's ever happened to me. I actually have nothing left to live for,'

'Miranda hart deserved better she's going to make me cry,'

'I'm so saaad. Miranda Hart has been one of my favourite people for years and she's been so fun to watch,'

'Miranda hart. You should be so proud of yourself. You are a inspiration to us all and you have a taught us not to give up,'

'No one gets miranda hart like me. that's my favourite person in the world actually,'

'I'm going to be mourning miranda hart on this show for the rest of my life. i miss her already.'

Later in her exit interview, Miranda described her appearance on the BBC show as the culmination of a 'very hard road' back to television following years of ill health.

The actress was diagnosed with ME, also known as chronic fatigue syndrome in 2024.

She said: 'I have missed doing television so much and it has been a very hard road to get to a place after restricting long-term illness to be fit enough to do something again.'

Miranda also revealed in the interview that she had come agonisingly close to unmasking Maya, 32, and James, 41, before they struck.

She said the penny dropped when Rob Beckett's belief that Joanne McNally was a Faithful made her realise Maya had moved during the blindfolded challenge. She also grew suspicious of James over an earlier vote.

She said: 'I was so close to being able to whisper to James B and Michael that I thought I had got them.'
