In the recent Detective Comics #1111 - from Tom Taylor, Mikel Janín and Wes Abbott - fans learn more about an unseen adventure from Batman's early days. In the latest installment of the 'Flight' arc, Batman agrees to form an official team with Green Arrow, Black Canary and forgotten hero Prion.

In recent issues, DC has revealed how he, Dinah Lance and Oliver Queen mentored a young superhero named Prion. After going on missions together, Prion proposed the four become an official team named 'Flight Squadron Delta.' This issue, Batman agrees, creating uniforms with a composite logo representing all four heroes.

This revelation introduces a secret team that's a permanent addition to Batman canon, despite having been unknown until now. The reveal has implications for the modern day, as Batman is targeted by a mysterious group connected to Prion's family.

DC Fans Finally Know How Prion Died

Prion's first appearance revealed that the hero is dead in the modern day, with Batman, Green Arrow and Black Canary feeling guilt over his demise. This issue reveals what happened to the young hero, while hinting at darker truths in his backstory.

The issue reveals that Prion died due to a sparring accident with Black Canary. Thanks to an unlucky hit, Prion suffers cardiac arrest, dying while reciting a mysterious phrase. This complicates matters in the modern day, where Prion's assassin daughter has been trying to kill his former allies in Flight Squadron Delta...

Prion's Legacy Will Be Decided This August

This arc began with the team meeting Arabella Reynoso - a young girl who has been brainwashed into a superhuman assassin. While it appeared that the brainwashing was the work of Prion's mother Rita Reynoso, this issue reveals that's not the case.

Using Prion's dying words, Batman is able to free Rita from her own mind control, which is revealed to have been in place for over a decade. It emerges that three generations of the same family have been affected by the mysterious villains trying to turn them into tame assassins, with Batman swearing a very personal revenge as the story enters its final issue - set to conclude in August 6's Detective Comics #1112.

The saga of Prion has revealed a secret team from Batman's past, as it's confirmed that he once joined an official team alongside Prion, Green Arrow and Black Canary. However, this isn't just new lore - it affects the modern day, where the remaining members of Flight Squadron Delta are fighting to save Arabella, who will potentially become the next Prion under Batman's tutelage to continue her father's legacy.
