In Avowed, you play as a Godlike, granting you special abilities that other people don't possess. This has a few gameplay implications, one of which are the Ancient Memories that can be found in Avowed. Not only do these provide some backstory for the world, but they also unlock powerful passive abilities. There are five total Ancient Memories, one in each large region of Avowed. The locations for each region's Ancient Memory are listed in same order in which you'll visit the locations, so you can easily keep up as you work through the story. Naturally, be aware this guide necessarily contains some light spoilers.

Dawnshore Ancient Memory location

The Ancient Memory can be found in Watcher's Mirror.

The first Ancient Memory is the only one tied directly to a side quest, "The Call of the Past," which prompts you to search for the Ancient Memory. The Dawnshore Ancient Memory can be found in Watcher's Mirror, which is located in the northeastern area called The Rise. In Watcher's Mirror just head east, where you will find a broken bridge, with the Ancient Memory floating in the air there.

Dawnshore's Ancient Memory is located at the end of this bridge.

After going through the memory, you will be given the Remembrance of Kishamal passive, which increases your maximum health by 10%.

Emerald Stair Ancient Memory location

The second Ancient Memory is located at the top of the Ranger Outpost.

The Ancient Memory in the Emerald Stair is located in a western area called The Wildwoods, spotted just past the river when you're heading west from Fior mes Ivérno. There, you can find the Ranger Outpost, a tall structure attached to a large tree. The Ancient Memory is at the top, so just climb the scaffolding and ladders in the outpost until you reach the top.

The second Ancient Memory can be found at the top of the Ranger Outpost.

This awards the Remembrance of Enhekala, which increases your maximum essence by 10%.

Shatterscarp Ancient Memory location

The third Ancient Memory can be found in the Great Sand Sea.

The Shatterscarp Ancient Memory can be found in the Great Sand Sea in the southeastern part of Shatterscarp. There you can find the Twin Offerings Overlook, a large rock structure. You need to climb to the top of the rock structure by following a series of ledges you can climb and jump to. The path isn't hidden and leads all the way to the top. This area features a large number of Xaurips, including the bounty target Xaurip Chief Grithin.

The Shatterscarp Ancient Memory is found on the top of this rock formation.

This awards the Remembrance of Nimanna, which increases your maximum stamina by 10%.

Galawain's Tusks Ancient Memory location

The fourth Ancient Memory is located in the Slumbering Fields.

Galawain's Tusks' Ancient Memory can be found in the Slumbering Fields in the southwestern part of the region. It can be found by following the river there to its mouth, then swimming through it. When you enter the area, the water will be poisoned, causing you to take damage when you enter it. You will meet some NPCs when you enter the area, who give you the Boundaries of Antiquity side quest. Follow the side quest to defeat the source of the poison, which will make the water safe to swim through.

The Galawain's Tusk Ancient Memory is past a river in the Slumbering Fields.

This awards you with the Remembrance of Maru passive, which increases your attack damage by 10%.

The Garden Ancient Memory location

The final Ancient Memory can be found in the Broken Aqueduct.

The Garden's Ancient Memory can be found in the Broken Aqueduct area. On the ground level of this area, there is a building off to the side with a door. Open the door and the final Ancient Memory will be on the other side to collect. This area is past the story's point of no return.
