Avengers: Doomsday is bringing together arguably the most impressive list of Marvel heroes ever, but not all of them have gotten their time to shine in the marketing. Marvel Studios started pulling the curtain back on the upcoming tentpole last year by releasing four "teasers" centered on different characters/teams. It wasn't until this week that Avengers: Doomsday's official trailer debuted online, giving everyone their best look at it.

Between the four teasers and the official trailer, Thor has been highlighted the most. Steve Rogers got his own teaser and popped up at the end of the main trailer. Shuri, M'Baku, Namor, The Thing, Professor X, Magneto, and Cyclops also all appeared in a teaser and the main trailer. Most of Avengers: Doomsday's cast list had to wait until the more recent footage to make an appearance.

In addition to officially unveiling Robert Downey Jr.'s Doctor Doom, the trailer also showed Captain America, Ant-Man, Shang-Chi, Bucky Barnes, Yelena Belova, Ghost, U.S. Agent, Red Guardian, Loki, Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, and Human Torch. Even Gambit and Mystique got some attention by spotlighting some of the film's superhero fights. A few characters haven't been seen at all, despite being known to have roles.

Marvel confirmed Beast, Nightcrawler, and Sentry will be in Doomsday during the infamous chair reveal, and even though they were featured on the official first concept art, none of them have been seen in the trailers to this point. (Bob does seem to be on the edge of the group shot in New Avengers Tower, but he's mostly covered in shadows.) With every other confirmed cast member getting screentime in the trailers, their absences are quite odd.

Why Nightcrawler, Beast, & Sentry Haven't Been In Avengers: Doomsday's Trailers

There is no official reason as to why Marvel Studios' marketing team has avoided showing Nightcrawler, Beast, and Sentry. It may come down to there simply not being enough time in a single trailer to feature every confirmed character, with these three just getting the short end of the stick.

It could also be a reflection of the size of their roles. Nightcrawler and Beast could have the least amount of screentime among the multiversal X-Men team, leaving the marketing team with less material to choose from. The same could go for Sentry, who could choose to sit on the sidelines for much of the event film out of fear about using his powers again rather than be on one of Doomsday's Avengers team rosters.

The other option is that all three characters have roles so instrumental and scenes so significant that showing them in the trailer would be considered a spoiler. Marvel is notoriously spoiler-averse, even adjusting trailer footage to keep secrets at times. Beast, Nightcrawler, and Sentry could have been digitally removed from certain scenes featured in the trailers to protect plot points Marvel Studios doesn't want fans to know yet.

What We Know About Nightcrawler, Beast, & Sentry's Avengers: Doomsday Roles

Without having seen any of these characters in action for Doomsday, information on their involvement is officially difficult to come by. But we can deduce some aspects of their stories based on what else we have seen.

Nightcrawler and Beast will be part of the main X-Men team. The trailers have teased their rough current state and watching approaching incursions. Beast should play a key role in the heroes trying to solve the incursion problem and save universes, no matter what that looks like, thanks to his incredible intellect.

As for Nightcrawler, actor Alan Cummings has indicated that the German mutant will partake in the X-Men vs Avengers fight. While Gambit fights Shang-Chi and Mystique takes on Yelena, Nightcrawler will fight Mister Fantastic if some of the actor's previous comments are to be believed.

Sentry will enter Avengers: Doomsday as a member of the New Avengers, even if he isn't eager to use his abilities. He might not be an active participant in the universe-saving at the start, but it stands to reason that Sentry's powers will become necessary by the end if the heroes want any chance of stopping Doom. Hopefully, future Avengers: Doomsday trailers give us better glimpses at all three.
