Marvel unveils the best version of a powerful ability shared by Wolverine and Hulk, accessible by only two Avengers. Super-strength, durability, endurance, heightened senses, and super speed form the basic superpower package of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Top-tier Avengers like Thor, She-Hulk, and Captain Marvel possess immense physical power and near-indestructible bodies, while peak-human members like Captain America possess a similar power set, but on a much lower scale. Theoretically regular humans like Iron Man, Ant-Man, and Hawkeye also display some degree of superpowers, as their performance in battle inevitably requires them to match the reflexes, speed, and strength of many of their superpowered colleagues.
Particularly, a healing factor is an unspoken requirement for Avengers membership, as regular mortal biology can't possibly survive constant superhero combat. Constant blunt force impacts and explosive blasts would permanently incapacitate a human hero without rapid cellular repair. Avengers like Hawkeye and Black Widow consistently bounce back largely unscathed; otherwise, they would be out of commission after a single lost battle. While Wolverine and Hulk are most famously known for their regenerative abilities, Avengers like Captain America defy all biological expectations by coming back from life-changing injuries with their health and strength fully restored.
As Steve Rogers returns from a coma after fighting Red Hulk, two Avengers reveal they can heal even more easily than Wolverine and Hulk themselves.
Marvel's New Miracleman Heals Himself Completely By Uttering A Single Word
Avengers: Armageddon #5; Written By Chip Zdarsky; Art By Delio Diaz, Frank Alpizar, Ario Anindito, And Jesus Aburtov
After leading a nuclear warhead to detonate over Plesetsk, David Colton reaches out to Wolverine and asks him to use his adamantium claws to end his life, feeling unbearable regret over his actions. Colton remembers that he almost died when Thaddeus Ross' enhanced Red Hulk form unleashed a huge explosion of energy, and yet he healed himself almost instantly when he uttered the word "Kimota," which transformed him into Miracleman and granted him unmatched power on top of a fully regenerated body. Miracleman's regenerative power is even more efficient than Wolverine's, as he doesn't have to wait for his body to patch itself together to return to action.
However, the same advantage that gives David Colton the best healing factor in the Marvel Universe is his biggest limitation. If David Colton is unable to physically say the word "Kimota", he can't transform into Miracleman and is susceptible to a regular human death. Enemies can exploit this vulnerability and attack David Colton in his civilian form, and restrain him so he can't talk. This is the same weakness that Miracleman's DC Comics counterpart, The Captain a.k.a. Shazam, has to deal with when he transforms back and forth between his human child and superpowered champion forms.
Marvel's Potential Second Miracleman Already Showcase His Own Healing Factor
Bucky Barnes Heals His Entire Body From A Nuclear Detonation
Besides the nine thousand people who died in the nuclear explosion Miracleman couldn't prevent, Bucky Barnes was pulverized in the explosion. Shockingly, Avengers: Armageddon #5 reveals that Bucky regenerates his entire body from nothing but bones, and he's retrieved by Nick Fury Sr., who calls him a "miracle." Bucky Barnes' impressive regeneration and Nick Fury Sr.'s comment seem like a clear sign that Bucky is a second Miracleman, especially after Tony Stark and Reed Richards reached the conclusion that Earth-616's native Miracleman must exist somewhere out there at the same time as David Colton.
Like Steve Rogers, Bucky Barnes' Super Soldier physiology allows him to recover from the most brutal battles. However, healing completely from a point-blank nuclear explosion is something only heroes as powerful as Wolverine, Hulk, and Deadpool can achieve. It took Steve several weeks to heal his broken body from an encounter with a baseline Red Hulk, so it's more than clear that the former Winter Soldier has attained a new level of power by the time he's found by Nick Fury Sr.
