‘Avatar: Seven Havens’ Releases First Trailer and Sets Premiere Date

Just one day before “Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender” premieres on Paramount+, the franchise is already setting a course for its future. “Avatar: Seven Havens,” the third TV show in the popular animated fantasy franchise, will premiere on Paramount+ October 9.

The news was announced at a San Diego Comic-Con panel on Thursday July 23 celebrating the impending premiere of “Avatar Aang,” an animated feature film spinoff of the franchise’s first TV show. At the panel — which was attended by co-creators Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino – the first teaser trailer for “Seven Havens” also made its debut.

The “Avatar” franchise first began with “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” which premiered on Nickelodeon in 2005 and aired for three seasons before concluding in 2008. Created by Konietzko and DiMartino, the series is set in a fantasy world that takes inspiration from ancient Asian cultures where certain humans have the power to manipulate air, earth, fire, or water via martial arts practices known as bending. The series focuses on Aang, the reincarnation of the Avatar capable of controlling all four elements, as he embarks on a journey to stop a war between the nations.

Upon its release, the first “Avatar” series was critically acclaimed for its worldbuilding, character writing, and anime-inspired animation style. It has since become highly regarded as one of the best animated series of all time. The series spawned a 2010 live-action film remake, a 2024 TV remake from Netflix, and a sequel series also created by Konietzko and DiMartino called “The Legend of Korra.”

Konietzko and DiMartino return to “Seven Havens,” which is set after “The Legend of Korra” and focuses on a new Avatar named Pavi (Saheli Khan) who comes of age in a world that survived a deadly cataclysm. In this world, the Avatar is seen as humanity’s destroyer, forcing her to go on the run with her long-lost twin sister (Aishu Devan) to repair this broken society.

The voice acting cast is rounded out by Akshay Khanna, Major Curda, Sakina Jaffrey, Darren Barnet, Dianne Doan, and Dee Bradley Baker.

“Seven Havens” will debut on Paramount+. The series consists of 26 episodes, divided into two 13 episode “books,” all of which will premiere on the streamer at once. Watch the full trailer for the series below.
