'My new song is about shaking yourself out of complacency and being a passive observer of your own life,' she told Daily Mail Australia.
Danielle said the anthem is about 'finding the courage to actively re-engage, reboot and take centre stage in [her] own life.'
She added that the single, which will be the first track on her forthcoming album, charts her journey from 'going through the motions.'
Danielle says she is honoured to take the stage at the Mardi Gras on March 1st.
'I have been going to Mardi Gras and other Pride events around the world for years to support my friends and the community' she said.
'I am well versed in the magic of these important occasions and when Mardi Gras invited me to perform this year, it felt right'.

Besides her career in music and acting, Danielle has made headlines for her marriage to ex-husband Russell Crowe
In the past, Danielle has spoken about her unique relationship with her Russell and how they co-parent their sons Tennyson and Charles.
The actress and singer told Daily Mail Australia at the premiere of Russell's new film Poker Face in Sydney they are still very much friends and 'catch up when they can'.
'We catch up when we can. We're a divided family so when we can see each other, that's lovely,' she explained.
'But I have my life going on and he has his life going on,' she added.
Danielle also revealed the secret to her ageless beauty is 'looking after herself'.
'Its what you eat, looking after your skin and all of those things,' she explained.
Danielle and Russell, who met in 1989 on the set of the film The Crossing, married in April 2003 at the actor's farm in Nana Glen, New South Wales.

They separated in 2012 and finalised their divorce six years later.
In 2015, Russell made international headlines when he told The Sunday Times that he didn't rule out a reconciliation with Danielle.
'I've loved Danielle Spencer since 1989 - that's never going to change - and that's one of those things where I stare at her and go, ''How did this fail?'
'I still can't work it out, because my feelings for her have never changed,' Russell said.
But speaking to Sunday Style in April 2015, Danielle shot down suggestions of a reconciliation and said she was prioritising their children and family unit going forward.
In 2013, Russell admitted hat he wrote songs about his inevitable divorce with his ex-wife long before it was finalised in 2018.
The Gladiator actor said he knew their union was doomed in 2011, and some tracks on his album The Crowe/ Doyle Songbook were directed at Danielle, and these were titled Sadness Of A Woman and Too Far Gone.
