An Australian woman has detailed the horrific moment her beloved pet dog was 'chased' and fallen on by a toddler while their mother watched on and smiled.
Karina Irby, a Queensland-based body-positive influencer and businesswoman, was walking her 12-year-old chihuahua, named Billie, down by her local beach when a toddler began chasing and throwing sand and water at the pet.
After several pleas for the child to stop, Karina said the mother did nothing to reprimand her daughter or intervene.
Taking to Instagram, the 35-year-old described the incident as 'five minutes of torture'.
'Some people seriously have NO clue,' she began.
'I was down by the water with Billie, who's 12, I might add. A mother and her four-ish-year-old daughter walked by, and their kid wanted to play with Billie.

'Totally fine and super cute for a minute - until the kid chased Billie into the water and FELL on top of her!!!'
Karina noted that the mum did apologise on behalf of her daughter for falling on the dog, but the toddler proceeded to chase the dog even after attempts by Irby to move away.
'[She] then allowed her daughter to chase us up and down the water, despite me moving further away from them. This went on for at least five minutes of torture,' she added.
'The mother let her kid not only chase us around but also THROW WATER and SAND at Billie!!! WTF!?
'I even politely told the little girl to stop throwing water and sand at her. The mum just watched on with a smile on her face.
'I literally picked Billie, apologised to her loudly that we couldn't play in the water, and took her away.'
Karina said the ordeal left her 'feeling really disappointed in humanity'.
'For one, parents need to do better,' she said. 'And two, dogs are not just "dogs." She is my f**king princess, my baby girl - my absolute WORLD. Don't treat her like a "dog".'

Karina, who considers her beloved pet dogs to be her 'babies', recently sparked outrage when she revealed the real reason she doesn't want to have children.
In December, the Moana Swim founder took to Instagram with a lengthy post saying that having kids would take more from her life than she's willing to give.
While she received an influx of support from her 1.1million followers, others in the comments were outraged by the body-positive influencer's reasoning.
The backlash began when Karina uploaded several selfies of herself enjoying life, alongside messages she had received from fans who asked why she doesn't want children.
Karina then went on to explain: 'I know I'd be a fantastic mother, but the thought of pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and having a healthy baby terrifies me.
'I fear I'd lose myself—my identity—and eventually resent my child. Raising a child in a world plagued by global warming, endless wars, and rising costs feels selfish to me.'
Karina went on to say she also fears having a child who may one day grow up to not like or respect her.
She added she 'wouldn't be able to run my companies anymore—something I love and have worked so hard for', and 'fears' she would 'regret the loss of my freedom'.
'People tell me I'm missing out on the greatest gift in life, but having children would, in fact, take away my greatest gift in life'.
