Assassin's Creed Odyssey Just Got A Stunning Next-Gen Overhaul

Released back in 2018 as the eleventh major installment in the beloved Ubisoft franchise, Assassin's Creed Odyssey saw players taken from 431 to 422 BCE as they became embroiled in the Peloponnesian War between Athens and Sparta. Centered around Greek mythology, users could choose to take on the role of two separate protagonists, Alexios of Kassandra, as well as head to present times to continue the story of Layla Hassan, who is able to connect to the memories of her ancestors thanks to the Animus.

Receiving generally favorable reviews, Assassin's Creed Odyssey was praised for its gameplay, characters, and world design, but fell short when it came to over-ambition and the inclusion of microtransactions. However, like many Assassin's Creed entries, it has stood the test of time, with many people choosing to give the Ubisoft title another chance eight years on from its original launch.
