Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has no shortage of collectibles you can go sailing around in search of, but one that has a more tangible reward without overstaying its welcome is easily the 16 Mayan Stones scattered across its huge map. Requiring a simple puzzle to solve for each, once you've found your first one in Black Flag Resynced's main story, they'll start appearing like any other collectible under each location.
While Black Flag Resynced does add a helpful tooltip that shows if an island will have a Mayan Stone for you to find, it only does so for the islands you've already discovered, and doesn't mark down where to search for them next. Thankfully, if you want to know where you can find the exact location of each stone and the rewards for collecting them all, you're in the right place.
How To Collect Mayan Stones In Black Flag Resynced
To even start collecting Mayan Stones, you'll need to have first need to have visited Tulum and completed the Sequence 4 campaign mission Overrun and Outnumbered, where you fend off Tulum from a Templar invasion. After winning back some of your favor from the Brotherhood, Kidd will show you the secrets and allow you to start your treasure hunt with the Mayan Mysteries side quest.
As you've already experienced with the first tutorial discovery on Great Inagua prior to this discovery during the main campaign mission, This Old Cove, each Mayan Stone requires you to solve a shape puzzle by rotating symbols to match with glowing rock positions. One thing to keep in mind in case you get stuck solving one is that you can also scale the size of the shapes, which can help with some of the trickier puzzles later on.
Similar to the other collection quests in Black Flag Resynced, the mission itself is a passive one that doesn't show your distinct progress or require any interactions as you go, but simply to keep it in mind while playing and collecting the remaining 15 Mayan Stones that you need to complete the questline, and earn the reward teased by Kidd during your exploration of the Mayan temple.
Where To Find All 16 Mayan Stones

While you'll technically be starting in Tulum, after unlocking the Mayan Mysteries questline from Kidd, it's easier to start your journey in Great Inagua to track your linear progress of finding each item. For easier tracking, the locations of each Mayan Stone have been listed in the above images for you to track your progress, moving in a rough circle before ending in a similar area to where you started.
If you're having trouble finding any individual Mayan Stone location, it will appear on your map after using nearby Synchronization Points in the area, although larger locations with multiple Synchronization Points might require you to find additional ones closer to it for them to appear. If you do find yourself struggling or want to speed things up, you can also find the exact coordinates for each in the following list:
- Great Inagua
- Cat Island (703, 670)
- Mantanzas (311, 617)
- Cape Bonavista (159, 684)
- Sacrifice Island (18, 548)
- Pinos Isle (303, 452)
- Pinos Isle (311, 454)
- Tulum (30, 382)
- Santanillas (187, 221)
- Misteriosa (265, 171)
- Misteriosa (273, 175)
- New Bone (400, 92)
- Isla Providencia (485, 25)
- Isla Providencia (486, 22)
- Long Bay (502, 216)
- Tortuga (846, 352)
Thankfully, you can also easily check which locations you've already visited and dug up the Mayan Stone for each spot by simply hovering over the area, which will either display a white 'Mayan Stelae' name with your remaining ones missing, or golden with a checkmark to denote that you've already gathered this one and don't need to come back to check.
Several locations, like Pinos Isle, Misteriosa, and Isla Providencia, all notably have two Mayan Stones each, meaning you'll only have to visit a total of 12 separate islands in order to finish the Mayan Mysteries quest, which will grant you the following rewards.
Rewards For Gathering All Mayan Stones
Fans of the original Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will see a familiar sight after collecting all 16 Mayan Stones, as the first of the two rewards you'll obtain is the Legendary Mayan Armour, which has received a bit of a visual uplift compared to the original, alongside the Legendary Yax Tun pendant, which offers one of the most powerful passive abilities in the game.
While equipped, the Yax Tun pendant will make you immune to all bullets and firearms, which comes in especially handy against guard towers or boarding higher-level ships that have crews loaded up with ammo to use against you. One significant Black Flag Resynced change from the original game is that the armor is purely cosmetic this time around, allowing you to reap the benefit of your search without forcing you to wear the outfit you might not even like.
Given that this reward can further trivialize most combat encounters in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, the Mayan Stones aren't exactly something that you need to go rushing out to find at the start of the game, but if you're looking to finish off your collection, the Mayan Mysteries quests is one of the more worthwhile side activities to do while exploring the open seas.
