Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced: Every Ship Pet & How To Unlock Them

While the Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced launch trailer showcased several exciting features for its July release date, one of the additions that stood out the most was being able to recruit some new furry friends to join you on the Jackdaw. Even without changing the actual moment-to-moment gameplay of Black Flag Resynced, pets are still one of the few interactive cosmetics you can unlock throughout the game.

Thankfully, you won't have to progress very far before you can unlock all four pets currently available in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced, as two of them can be earned right after finishing the introduction missions of the story and equipped via your pause menu.

How To Get Both Cats In Black Flag Resynced

The very first animal companion you'll be able to unlock in Black Flag Resynced comes from purchasing the Deluxe Edition of Black Flag Resynced or the standalone Master Assassin Naval Pack DLC. After either method, you'll unlock the Gold Tom cat to ride aboard the Jackdaw right after obtaining it from the Spanish fleet.

The Tom Cat Jackdaw companion is the only pet in Black Flag Resynced that cannot be unlocked for free in-game.

The next cat you can find waiting for you the minute you first land on Great Inagua, found further inland on top of someone's house, as highlighted in the image above. If you want to find her on your own, all you have to do is follow the trail of blood and dead rats before interacting with your new furry friend to add Soot the Cat to your ship.

How To Get Both Monkeys In Black Flag Resynced

The first monkey you can get is another pet that can be obtained almost immediately after the tutorial section by purchasing it in the Animus project menu in exchange for Data Fragments, which are earned through the weekly side event quests from the Animus Menu scattered throughout Black Flag Resynced's expansive map.

It is important to note, however, that you will need to swap the default project from 'Riptides' to 'Eye In The Dark' if you want to obtain the Dark Familiar monkey pet for yourself, which should only take two or so missions before you can obtain the free download.

The second monkey and final pet you can obtain in Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced comes in the form of Albert the monkey, which you'll find after completing the first few sequences of the story under a side quest titled "Monkey Business" in Havana. After killing all the guards on board the docked ship, you'll be able to interact with Albert to add him to the crew of the Jackdaw.
