AS Roma signs Nahuel Molina from Atletico Madrid until June 2030

AS Roma have completed the signing of Argentine defender Nahuel Molina from Atletico Madrid in a deal worth up to €18 million. The 28-year-old right-back has arrived in Rome and will sign a four-year contract running through June 2030.

The transfer package breaks down to €13 million in guaranteed fees, with an additional €5 million available through performance-based add-ons. Molina’s annual salary is estimated between €2.7 million and €3 million.

From Buenos Aires to Rome, the long way around

Molina came through the youth ranks at Boca Juniors before making the leap to European football with Udinese in 2020. Two seasons in Udine were enough to catch the eye of Atletico Madrid, who brought him to La Liga in 2022. He spent four seasons under Diego Simeone’s system before completing his move to Roma.

By mid-2026, he had accumulated 65 caps for the Argentine national team, scoring once along the way. He also contributed to Argentina’s 2022 World Cup win and their triumph in subsequent Copa América tournaments.

What Roma are getting

At 28, Molina arrives old enough to bring genuine experience from elite-level football across multiple leagues, but young enough that a four-year contract doesn’t feel like a gamble on declining legs.

Molina already has experience in Serie A from his time at Udinese, having joined the club in 2020 and spending two seasons there before his move to Atletico Madrid in July 2022.

The financial structure of the deal is sensible from Roma’s perspective. Paying €13 million upfront with the remaining €5 million tied to performance incentives means the club has built in protection against underperformance while keeping the total outlay manageable.
