Will we ever see Deadpool’s teammate Domino or Ant-Man’s pal Luis again?

Seemingly everyone from the history of Marvel movies will be returning to the big screen soon, if not for Avengers: Doomsday, then certainly for next year’s Avengers: Secret Wars. Avengers OG’s Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans are confirmed to be back, as are Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen from the Fox-era X-Men films. Plus, rumors have run rampant about literally anyone else who’s appeared in a Marvel movie.

Which is why, while doing interviews about Gore Verbinski’s new sci-fi comedy Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, I asked stars Michael Peña and Zazie Beetz if they might ever return for their respective Marvel roles.

“No idea” is Peña’s simple reply when asked if he’ll ever return as Ant-Man’s fast-talking friend Luis, which follows some recent rumors that he’s done for good with the role.

Luis and Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) were established as cellmates in the first Ant-Man film, and when Scott was released from prison, Luis and he remained best friends. Even after Scott became Ant-Man, he was still tight with Luis, who aided with the plan to take down the villain Yellowjacket. In the 2018 Ant-Man sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp, Luis had gone straight as a security consultant in business with Scott. Even though his brown van, which housed the Quantum Tunnel used in Avengers: Endgame, has remained in the films, Luis hasn’t been seen since Ant-Man and the Wasp. Last we knew, he was still in business with Scott, which made his absence from 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania especially conspicuous.

As for Beetz, who played the lucky mutant Domino in Deadpool 2, she also says, “No idea,” but adds that, “If someone writes a script then, sure. I love Domino and I would happily jump in again any time. She was a great joy to play.”

Despite a brief Easter egg in X-Men: Days of Future Past, Domino’s sole appearance on film was in Deadpool 2 as a mutant mercenary that joins Deadpool’s ill-fated team X-Force. Her mutant power is explained as being probability field manipulation, which basically makes her super lucky, a seemingly absurd power that appears to actually be true, especially after she becomes the only other surviving member of X-Force besides Deadpool. Domino also helped in the movie’s final fight against Juggernaut, which appeared to line her up for an appearance in the next Deadpool film. Unfortunately she was absent from Deadpool & Wolverine, but there’s still plenty of opportunity for her to return, if not in either of the upcoming Avengers movies, perhaps in Deadpool 4, which Ryan Reynolds is reportedly hard at work on.

So while our luck may indeed have run out for Luis’ return, but hopefully Domino fans will prove a bit more fortunate.
