Arc Raiders' Riven Tides update is its biggest yet, letting you hunt for buried treasure and fight massive robot ice cream cones on a beach resort

After plenty of teasers for the new map, Embark has officially revealed Arc Raiders' Riven Tides, the single-biggest update yet. It goes without saying that the most exciting addition to the game is the new map of the same name, the first to be added since Stella Montis arrived with the North Line update back in November 2025.

That would be Beachcombing, a minor map condition exclusive to this holiday getaway, where you can search for buried treasure using the Dockmaster's Detector. I can only assume that it's a metal detector, letting me relive my youth of wandering around random fields hoping for a beep. Fingers crossed there's more treasure than trash buried under the sand.

The other new addition tied to the Riven Tides map is a big enemy. It's not the terrifying UFO we've seen flying around—so we've still got that to look forward to. Say hello to the Arc Turbine, a massive hovering ice cream cone equipped with "defensive measures", as Embark puts it. It's considered a large Arc, so I imagine it'll put up a fight similar in difficulty to the Queen and Matriarch.

Tying this all together is the new Avian Alarm project. This five-stage endeavour sees you building a bird cage, since birds are apparently the best shot we've got at monitoring tremors. You'll be able to earn Raider Tokens and the Bird House backpack attachment, but also the Dockmaster's Detector you'll need for Beachcombing.

Oh, and you don't want to miss the limited-time Last Resort event, which runs from Riven Tides' launch tomorrow, April 28, until May 25. During this time, XP you earn from matches (on any map) is automatically converted into Merits, which will earn you three pages of rewards, including Raider Tokens, the Junior outfit, and the Hydrologist backpack. You can also earn Merits by finding miniature Ship Models, so keep your eyes peeled.

Just in case that was an overload of stuff, here's a summary of everything coming in the Riven Tides update tomorrow:

Keep up to date with the most important stories and the best deals, as picked by the PC Gamer team.

  • Riven Tides map
  • Beachcombing map condition
  • Arc Turbine large-type enemy
  • Avian Alarm project
  • Last Resort limited-time event
  • Crashpad and Powered Descender items
  • More quests

There are also two major system updates arriving alongside these additions. The next Expedition window coincides with Riven Tides' launch, but this time around, you'll progress it by hunting robots instead of hoarding loot. Similarly, Trials are being reworked to remove frustrating scheduling issues that have bogged the system down since release.

Rory has made the fatal error of playing way too many live service games at once, and somehow still finding time for everything in between. Sure, he’s an expert at Destiny 2, Call of Duty, and more, but at what cost? He’s even sunk 1,000 hours into The Elder Scrolls Online over the years. At least he put all those hours spent grinding challenges to good use over the years as a freelancer and guides editor. In his spare time, he’s also an avid video creator, often breaking down the environmental design of his favourite games. If you can’t track him down, he’s probably lost in a cave with a bunch of dwarves shouting “rock and stone” to no end.
