Apple TV has an incredible summer line-up for sci-fi fans, with some of its most-anticipated shows and franchise all set to return around that time.
When it comes to consistently delivering high-quality sci-fi shows, Apple TV has the best reputation among all streaming services. With each new year, the streamer has gradually grown its sci-fi catalog from strength to strength and now serves as the streaming home for some of the best ongoing shows of the genre, like Silo, Severance, Foundation, and For All Mankind, among others.
While some Apple TV sci-fi shows have still struggled to last beyond their opening seasons, most series of the genre on the streaming service are still going strong and are expected to return soon. Among these, three have been scheduled to return with new installments in Summer 2026 itself, setting the stage for another great year for Apple TV.
Some Of The Best Apple TV Sci-Fi Franchises Are Returning In 2026
The long-awaited Silo season 3 still does not have an official release date. However, Rebecca Ferguson, who plays the main character in the series, has confirmed its release window by revealing that it will be out in Summer 2026. Since Silo's seasons 3 and 4 were filmed back-to-back, season 3's summer release is great news for the fans of the show. It suggests that the show's final season will also be out by the first quarter of 2027.
Apart from Silo, Apple TV's acclaimed space opera, For All Mankind, is also returning this summer with a new spinoff series. Titled Star City, the show is set to premiere on May 29, 2026. While many details surrounding its story are under wraps, it will expand the vision of the original show's look at alternate history by focusing on the Soviet Union.
The spinoff show's name alludes to the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center, suggesting that, like its parent series, it will not shy away from adopting hard sci-fi elements and delving deep into "what if" scenarios.
Apple TV's exciting summer line-up also includes Sugar season 2, which is one of the most fascinating genre-bending shows on the streaming service. Sugar initially kicked off as a typical neo-noir crime thriller in season 1. However, midway through its runtime, the show brilliantly flipped its genre and became a full-fledged sci-fi drama.
While only time will tell whether this genre switch will favor the show in its future story arcs, its sudden inclination towards sci-fi has made it even more exciting. As reports confirm, Sugar season 2 will land on Apple TV on June 19, 2026, and potentially end the season for the streaming service on a high note.
Apple TV’s Sci-Fi Domination Will Seemingly Continue This Year
2025 was a massive year for Apple TV's sci-fi because, towards its end, the streaming service got its biggest TV hit, Pluribus, in the genre. The year even kicked off on a solid note when Severance season 2 finally returned and managed to match its first season's acclaim and commercial success. From the looks of it, 2026 will be equally good for the streaming or potentially even better.
The year has already started well for Apple TV with Monarch: Legacy of Monsters' season 2 earning wide acclaim. In the summer, Apple TV sci-fi will seemingly peak with Silo, For All Mankind, and Sugar set to return with new installments.
Apple TV's adaptation of William Gibson's Neuromancer does not have a confirmed release window yet. However, considering its filming schedule, it could come out by the end of 2026 itself, making the year even better for the streaming service.
If all goes well, sci-fi fans may also hear some positive updates surrounding the return of other epic Apple TV shows, like Severance, Foundation, Dark Matter, and Murderbot.
