Apple TV’s feel-good sports comedy Stick is officially leveling up for Season 2 — and two familiar faces are sticking around in a much bigger way. Led by Owen Wilson, the series follows Pryce Cahill — better known as “Stick” — a former pro golfer whose career imploded two decades ago. When we meet him, he’s working at an Indiana sporting goods store, divorced, and drifting. That is, until he puts everything on the line to mentor a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom, Santi (Peter Dager).
Timothy Olyphant and Judy Greer have both been promoted to series regulars for the upcoming second season of the Jason Keller-created series, giving fans even more reason to tune in when the golf comedy returns. If you’ve been treating Stick as your post-Ted Lasso comfort binge, this is a pretty major update. Season 1 built a warm ensemble around Pryce, including Marc Maron as his friend Mitts, Mariana Treviño as Santi’s mother Elena, and Lilli Kay as bartender-turned-caddy Zero. All are set to return in Season 2.
Olyphant plays Clark Ross, Pryce’s former partner and current rival — a man who represents both the career Pryce lost and the ego he can’t quite shake. In the Season 1 finale, Santi even flirts with the idea of teaming up with Clark instead, potentially replacing Pryce altogether.
What Happened in The 'Stick' Season 1 Finale?
Greer’s Amber-Linn — Pryce’s ex-wife — also left us with quite the bombshell as we ended Season 1. In the finale, Amber-Linn invites Pryce into her hotel room, reopening the door to their complicated history. He declined, and that will set up a lot about Pryce's journey to come. Showrunner Jason Keller unpacked that scene in a post-finale interview:
“In that scene, what Amber-Linn sees is the Pryce that she always wished she had seen years ago when they lost their son. This was the Pryce that, had he shown up in this way a long time ago, they maybe would have survived their marriage, and they would have stayed together. For many different reasons, Pryce just couldn’t get there.”
The series hails from Apple Studios and is showrun by Keller, who also executive produces alongside Wilson, Ben Silverman, Guymon Casady, Howard T. Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Drew Buckley, Christopher Moynihan, Bill Callahan, and Jaffar Mahmood.
