“I don’t know how anyone has a problem with us. We are such a delight,” Apple and her two friends mouthed to a voice over in a Dec. 16 TikTok video posted by Ava Crox. “We are two of the funniest girls and I know us, like offline. When I tell you, there aren’t two more caring, charitable, generous, kind…”
As for what started it all, criticisms started rolling in after Apple made her public debut at the Hotel Shangri-La alongside 19 other elegant young women. Not long after the festivities wrapped up, a TikTok video of Apple and fellow debutante Aliénor Loppin de Montmort getting their photos taken went viral.
In it, Apple jumped into the frame and began to pose confidently. And whether it was due to the timing of her entrance or her body language, many social media users saw her behavior as that of a “mean girl.”
But amid the controversy, the French countess stepped in to help clear Apple’s name.
“[Apple’s] genuinely the nicest girl ever,” Aliénorhas since told People. “She really doesn’t deserve an ounce of what she’s getting.”
“She was the nicest girl ever,” she continued, “towards not only me but all the debs!"
After all, this was an event that Apple’s whole family was looking forward to. Even the Iron Man actress took to social media to express just how excited she was for her daughter’s big milestone.
"My beautiful daughter," Gwyneth wrote on her Instagram Stories, along with photos of Apple in her sky blue, ruffled gown, "in @maisonvalentino."
In fact, the Oscar winner put on a Valentino design herself and attended the event alongside the Coldplaysinger and their 18-year-old son Moses Martin. And with her kids growing up and moving out, Gwyneth has recently reflected on what that means for her as a mom.
"It's very different," Gwyneth shared in a recent Instagram story. "I have waves of grief and sadness."
"I am kind of getting back in touch with this part of myself that I haven't felt like since I was in my 20s before I had kids," she continued. "Like, a little more space and imagination, maybe. A little more inner space for what I might want to do that day, stuff like that."
